The Power of One...any other fans?

Sure it's a $5 WB title...but I love this movie.

I remember the first time I saw it on HBO in the early 90's, I was in my Young Indy phase and something about the preview gave me that feeling. I watched it that night and loved it.

Anyone else? What happened to this movie when it was released? Did it even get a wide release? I've never even seen a trailer. Never read the book either.

Yeah, a big fan of this movie. I remember seeing it with my folks when it came out in theaters, and everyone was crying by the end. I also read the book a few years later, and it is quite different from the way the movie ends. As I recall, the growing up in prison years and boxing years are about the same, but after that the book continues on as P.K. goes to work in a mine, where he almost dies in an accident. There is hardly any mention of any apartheid situation at all, at least not to the extent the movie takes it.

Also, one of my favorite soundtracks.
