Lord of the Rings HD tidbit
Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I was reading the latest interview with Peter Jackson over on AICN (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/30085) and saw the following mentioned:
QUINT: Could your lawsuit against New Line be a problem?
PETER JACKSON: No. It's a seperate thing. I mean, I can't discuss the law suit, but it is just about rather dull audit issues, not people or projects. New Line called us about a Lord of the Rings box set a few weeks ago. A high definition one, so we are still talking.

I know they said 2008 at the earliest, but I don't really believe that considering they just released the new DVDs.

I believe New Line has already been quoted as saying 2008 before LOTR. I know they said no HD releases until 2006 period. If the EE DVDs are any indication, these HD versions should be the greatest HD disc ever!

I can't wait to see this in HD.The day these movies come out to HDDVD is the day I finally buy my Hd player, call in sick at work, and have a marathon of the EE's. Just seeing those picture comparisons between the SD and HD lord of the rings on another thread sold me on HD.

Hopefully the set will include both theatrical and extended cuts on the film not just on one disc, but on one side of one disc. Also, I'd like to see all the extras from all the previous releases, Theatrical, EE, and LE. Although, that would entail about 4 DVD9s worth of extras, so space may be an issue depending on how many discs they want to make it.

Is there anyone out there that doesnt belive that HD-DVD looks better than Broadcast HD? I couldnt see how there would be as I see a pretty big difference myself.

The best HD I've ever seen on broadcast would rival some of the mediocre HD DVD and Blu-ray titles (The Fugitive, A Knight's Tale, etc.). Even so, the very best broadcast HD doesn't come close to touching the best HD DVDs.
