Midnight Madness $4.95 titles (Friday only)

I got an email invitation this morning -- I have no code, but you may get one too -- for today's sale on selected $14.95 titles for $4.95.

It may not be the most exciting deal, but it would be a handy way to pick up some of these without hassle if you have an open and fulfilled account.

Some titles that might be worth considering:

La Cage Aux Folles
Hannah and Her Sisters
House of Games
Lorenzo's Oil
The Ladykillers (original Alec Guinness version)
The Playboys (chick flick I suppose, but a fine romance)
Prisoner of Second Avenue
The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes

[corrected price from 4.99 to 4.95 as advertised]

$4.95 right?

Code from my email is 804162. It looks to be the standard B1G 50% off other titles - with the exception for certain 14.95 / 9.95 titles being 4.95.

$4.95 sale doesn't work for any of the B0G0 codes. Looks like it's only available for certain codes.

Unfortunately it's $4.95 + 99 cent shipping on each DVD for me, so it's really $5.94. DDD recently had a $6.28 sale on some of these, so the price difference isn't that big. I might buy a few if there were no shipping charges, but at $5.94 I think I'll pass. There are some potential "blind buys" in there, but I don't have time to research them before midnight tonight as CH gave so little advance warning.

To me any 1 day sale is almost like that radio spot I once heard called the "Barnacle Brothers' 60-second sale" where the mythical sale was only on for the duration of the ad. I loved the ending of the ad "We didn't give you any warning, and we can't extend the sale. Besides, if you aren't already here, you ain't gonna make it because the Barnacle Brothers sale with savings up to 99% off is now over."

I agree it isn't a great deal, except that if I buy a couple of titles, I will extend my small funcash balance enough to get another cheap movie for free. So that might be a consideration for a few folks. DDD doesn't have funcash.

Where can I scan through these titles? I got the email for a different account. I'm using the 804162 code on another account. But I can't find a way to manually look through the list of 4.95 titles, unless I do it in my other account!

After you've entered the code and then add a DVD to your cart you get to the page before your cart (where they ask you if you want to add another one as a gift). On that page towards the top on the left it will be a box of your savings and one of them will say something about the $4.95 movies followed by a "Shop" image link. If you click on that it will take you directly to the 7 pages of $4.95 titles.

Btw, anyone seen The Big Empty? I haven't, but was intrigued by the reviews and wondered if it was any good?

Well I don't see much here besides the cinematic juggernaut which is Henry Fool.. buy that everyone.

I think I will have to get Terror in a Texas Town, I have been wanting it for some time now. Sterling Hayden in a western duel using a harpoon gun for his pistol? I am there.
