I think it looks awesome. 50 Cent looks like a decent actor.

I'm a Jim Sheriden fan, but do we really need yet another film starring a rapper turned actor detailing his troubled life and subsequent rise? Didn't we already go through this with Curtis Hanson?
Not interested.

I love Jim Sheridan, but what the hell is he doing directing this movie? Hopefully him and 50 will surprise me, but looking to cash in on 8 mile's success just seems stupid to me... I hope this movie will be good, but if it's not, i hope it TANKS.

Maybe in the movie they will change the story about and he'll "Die Tryin" instead

That trailer's got some glorified gangsta baloated ego stank to it. 8 Mile definately kept it more humble and subtle.
I'm not looking forward to it. I want to get to see it. I don't doubt that I'll probably give it *** our of ****. And I'll gladly spend $8 on a ticket to a different movie, and see this. I'm heavily opposed to supporting MTV and 50 Cent. I refuse to spend a penny in support of either. Jim Sheridan being an innocent bystander.

I have an idea. Don't see it.
Just to be clear. You're not looking forward to it, you won't support the star or company that made it (yet you don't blame the director), you'll pay to see a different flick and sneak in and you'll probably rate it 3 stars (out of 4).
That's just great. Someone just got a new sig.

To clarify, I meant "I'm not anticipating it". Time/budget pending, I see just about everything that comes into theaters. Doesn't really matter what it is. I consider myself a film buff. I keep it open for every movie to impress.
Per Sheridan's previous movies, I don't expect the movie to be bad. I'm anxious to see some interviews, or something. This just doesn't seem like something he'd do. Seems like something he would be pushed into.
Anyone who supports MTV and/or 50 Cent is part of the problem - not the solution. I refuse to conciously support either.

I'm not comparing it to 8 Mile, but isn't it a trailer's job to give you a "first impression"? No matter how positive or negative?
[Though, i'm assuming studios would hopefully be aiming for "positive"...]

Ultimately, you need to see the full movie to voice a strong opinion. But there's nothing wrong with criticizing a movie based on it's theatrical trailer. Trailers DO generally dictate the quality of a film. Sometimes, a trailer will be lame, and you lower your standards - just to say "hey, that way better than the trailer made it look". But ultimately, it's still just 'better than the trailer'.
And, FYI, I didn't state any preference as to "which film is better" in my post. I simply pointed out that 'Die Tryin looks like it's going to be a gangsta bling-bling, "look at me, YO", rags-to-riches film. I didn't say it looks bad. I didn't say I don't want to see it. I did say that I have big problems with negetively-influential, manipulative pop culture entities MTV and 50 Cent. Not to mention their apparent desire to face-fuck the public with movies like this. And I'm sure they'll be laughing their way to a new CRIB, and the Escalade with the blang blang 20's.
