I picked the 70's because of Taxi Driver.

70s because movies were wayyy better then. It was an age before political correctness and even early enough yet where ratings were not dictating too much of what went into the movies.

And studios weren't basing decisions on what kids would like.

70's.

Is this like a more modern version of the other thread about favorite decades in movies?

Possibly

Popcorn, is that a snide against 80's? I can say the two most popular things of the 80's are the A. Teen Comedies and B. Action/Adventure/SciFi/Fantasy Flicks
And as i care about 1% about A. then B. is where it's at for me. As for the 70's they are known for the two most popular things, A. Gritty/detective flicks and B. Violent horror. Ofcourse there's all types of movies in the decades.

Some non-kiddy flicks:
Das Boot(1981)
Ran (1985)
Raging Bull (1980)
The Shining (1980) (the toddlers love this!)
Aliens (1986)
Once Upon a Time in America (1984)
Full Metal Jacket (1987)
Blade Runner (1982) (unbelievably made)
Glory (1989)
Platoon (1986)
Die Hard (1988)
Predator (1987)
Henry V (1989)
Scarface (1983)
The Terminator (1984)
Rain Man (1988)

Also Harrisons Ford's greatest decade.
heck look up imdb

It's getting worse... the 70s is the best, 80s is also good, but the 90s is much worse. Or maybe it's just that the time makes movies better? But at least Hollywood films are getting worse for sure.

Well, the 70s had the end of the Vietnam War and the Watergate Scandel, the 80s had the introduction of AIDS and the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the 90s had the Gulf War and the Cold War ended. I voted for the 70s.

For cinema, the '70s, but for everything else, the '80s, definitely! European synth pop; music video stations with actual music videos; exciting, elaborate fashions; the explosion of home entertainment (movie videos and video games)...ah yeah, the '80s was where it was at!

Exactly. It was before the dreaded PG-13 rating. While it may have been created with good intentions, it's killing R rated movies.

that's because often you have scenarios where they will come up with a scrip, somebody at the studio will get behind the script and try to push it, and somebody else, the director or the producer or whoever, says the script is crap, they aren't doing it, the person who was behind the script a moment ago is going back to the writers and telling them they need to rewrite and they got six weeks before the movie opens. And people wonder why movies these days stink!

Ya know, I mentioned this over in "Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman" thread...about how it's amazing studios were able to do well without skewing "youthful" the way they are today and all, and was told they were always doing this .

I have to pick 80's as my favorite for movies. Mostly because that's when I was old enough to be able to go to theater by myself. What experience!!!
