Secret Window [movie] did a complete RIGHT turn from the novel...

Generally, King gives you heartache and horror and death. For example, in his novel Cujo, the little boy Tad dies. In the movie, he lives. Hollywood seems to give King's material a somewhat happy ending, or they keep it relative to the original King material.

But, correct me if I'm wrong, with Secret Window, they turned King's "happy ending" (if you wanted to call it that) into a deeper, darker ending
Spoiler:
in the novel, Depp's character is shot to death before he can kill his wife and lover. In the movie, Depp's character kills his wife and lover and gets away with it.

So instead of a complete left turn, they made a right turn in this movie adaptation.

That ending was horrible, ruined the whole movie. Go watch Cape Fear instead.

The movie sucked. How many times do we need the whole Fight Club thing recycled? That and the shot of him eating corn just ruined whatever was left of that movie.

I love Fight Club. It is one of my all-time favorites, but to say Secret Window recycled the Fight Club ending is wrong. Secret Window, Secret Garden was published in 1990. Fight Club was published in 1996. So if anything, Fight Club is rehashed from Secret Window.

At first, I felt the same way. To unsophisticated me, the ending seemed to come out of nowhere, and felt very out of place to me. But in retrospect, I still really liked the film overall.

I was expecting something on it being more conservative...

If you were talking to me...

Well, that IS what I was pointing out... Maaannn, it was f-ing mindblowing in Fight Club. Way too many movies do it now. And, while there may have been a few prior, Fight Club really set 'em off. Now that it's part of the problem-solving process, it's never a shock anymore. "How could it be him, or her, OH, I bet it's a Fight Club twist." I'm not saying, "since it's been done, it's never going to be good again". I'm saying, "since it's been done so many times now, it's going to be hard to blindside me like Fight Club did".

And holy crap! I forgot about the corn! What the hell? It was like dumm dumm dummmmmmmm *crunch*. I giggled a little.

Anyways, I remember really liking Secret Window, up till the last twenty minutes.
