Which DVDs do you own due to the fact that you loved them growing up?
I'm talking about movies you saw growing up and then bought as soon as they came out on dvd without even seeing them in awhile. My list would be

A great many of my DVD's are my favorite movies from either being exposed to them by my mother, seeing them on my own, or having certain ones I always enjoyed in the company of my friends. Way too many to name.

Definately The Great Escape. I watched it many a time with my dad when I was younger. Haven't touched it since I bought it (but I plan to sometime soon). Another one i've always considered picking up is The Guns of Navorone(sp?) for the same reason.

Same with me...many a nights did I stay up and watch The Great Escape with my dad. Whenever I watch it I always think about that.

All my pre 1990 Japanese Kaiju dvds and their later versions. Godzilla, Gamera, and Daimajin were all movies I grew up loving and I just added Matango:Attack of the Mushroom People to my collection. Matango was rarely shown on TV but when it was I was right there to watch it eventhough it creeped me out to no end. I loved it.
I'm still waiting for War of the Gargantuas and several other Japanese sci fi movies.

Nearly all of my pre-90's DVD's were bought due to sentimental value or I liked tham as a kid. Some of the films aren't that good but the feeling outweighs that. Ice Pirates is a good example of that.

Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas.
Loved it as a kid and I watch it every X-Mas. It went OOP and was selling for $50+ a few months back on eBay (it's going for less now) but I couldn't part with it for the profit. Riverbottom Nightmare Band

I bought Playing God (forgotten David Duchovney movie), and it was far better than I remembered.
I bought The Wild Bunch and The Last House on the Left because my Dad loved those two, and spoke highly of them.

Shit, this thread is really showing the age range. I'm collecting 60's and 70's Monster films I saw in the 70's and you guys are being nostalgic about movies from the mid thru late 80's.
