After Giantrobo's post I'm gonna stand out even more... but I own:
Home Alone
Hook
Lion King
Toy Story (UTB)
Alladin
...for that reason.
Any others:
Monty Python & The Holy Grail
Ghostbusters
Back To The Future
Ace Ventura
Dumb & Dumber
Blues Brothers
Vacation
Christmas Vacation
etc...etc... I'd still enjoy even if I didn't grow up watching them.

I'm with the age thing, 50s & 60 B & W Sci fi. Chased several down that I think I am the only fan of. To many to list but how about, The H Man, had RODAN on VHS cost a pretty penny to and then out comes the DVD for 5 bucks. The Crawling Eye rules. Of course H H boxed sets.

Man, you guys are younguns'. I'm 48. The only thing I've bought strictly for the nostalgia value is Lost in Space Season 2 and first half of 3. Can still enjoy first season but 2 and 3 are a little hard to take. Also, some Italian sword and sandal flicks. Use to go see them at the drive-in in the 60s. And Spiderman '67 Collection. Anything thing else I have from that time period I can enjoy watching just as much as when I was a kid.

Picked up Doctor Doolittle the other day (the 1967 film....not the Eddie Murphy vehicle) almost purely for nostalgia sake. At 151 minutes, I knew the kids would have trouble keeping interest and I remembered not being overly impressed as a teen with it.
But I remembered loving it as a kid, so I picked it up (it was on sale for only $6). Not even sure I'll ever put it in the player, but I feel more comfortable having it on the shelf.
Kind of going through the same thing with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. My affair with that title has been quite a roller coaster. Loved it as a kid...must have seen it 6 or 7 times (which was quite a feat for pre-VHS days). Saw it as a teen and hated it. When I got my LD player, I remembered reading about the beauty of the transfer and tried it again...really liked it. Just afraid I'll buy the SE DVD and hate it again. Such wild mood swings tied to that flick. Not sure why, though. No other film has me changing direction so often.
Which reminds me...anyone heard any word of whether we will ever see the 1970's version of Tom Sawyer (with Johnnie Whitaker)? I remember a S.E. laserdisc coming out at one time but no word as to a DVD. Love that flick....great cast too (Jodie Foster will always be Becky Thatcher to me.)

I have very few pre- 90's films but all of them have me asking myself what I would think of them if they didn't bring up some fond childhood memories/nostalgia:
Time Bandits
Top Gun
Star Wars
Yes, Star Wars. I love 'em to death but I've always been curious as to what I would think of them if I were seeing them for the 1st time now as an adult. Would I still hold them in such high regard? Probably, because I'm a genre fan*, I would. However It's very hard to be objective about things that meant so much to you as a kid.
Anyone else know what I'm talking about?
*probably because of Star Wars
