Oh dear.. The Wicker Man Hollywood remake...
In a sense I'm not surprised by this, I'm sure a US remake of this classic has been in development hell for years. But it won't be the same IMO. 
Neil Labutte is writing/directing and Nic Cage is one of the stars (I'm sure he'll play the Sargeant Howie role.

If its' a typical Hollywood ending then that is a total cop out IMO and destroys the point of the film.
