Stripes: How come Winger and Russell didn't get crew cuts?

Anyone notice that everybody in the company got crew cuts except Winger and Russell.

I dunno, maybe the actors didn't feel they'd look good in crew cuts. It's just a comedy, it's not like consistency is crucial.

It's funny...that awful crew cut back then is the style now. Short hair was just funny looking then, so maybe the leads didn't want to look foolish.

The timing of that scene looks to be to allow for laughter at the reveal of the shaved heads, then make the audience laugh again with the Krishna song. I seem to remember the sight of the crew cuts getting a big laugh in the theater.

Yep. It was funny that they didn't get them, and it made it even funnier on those that did.

They didn't all get them, from what I remember Francis(Psycho) also didn't have one.
