I have never seen these shows. Are they any good?

Now the classic animated series comes to DVD on June 14th, in two separate volumes that each contain 11 episodes. The list of episodes wasn't available yet, but Rambo - Volume 1: A World of Trouble and Rambo - Volume 2: Enter The Dragon will each contain approximately 300 minutes of show for just $14.98 SRP per release. Lions Gate is the publisher, and they've provided us with this early look at the cover art:

These were some fun cartoons. For $15 each, I'd pickup both in a second.

Rambo Cartoons!?

As a boy growing up, I loved Rambo as much as the next boy. However, I do not recall ever watching a Rambo cartoon.

For curiosity sake (and the low MSRP), I'll probably pick this up.

Hmm...I don't remember this series either, but for a low price, probably $9.99, I may pick these up. They say 60 episodes total, with these two containing 22. Which means another 4 volumes, right?

I think the Selling a Hero bonus feature on the Rambo tin trilogy discussed the figures/tv show relationship. I do not remember if there were any clips of the animated show.

If I'm remembering right the only tie to the movies this had was that Colonel Trautman was in it. On the original Rambo dvd's I think there was an easter egg of him "gearing up" from the cartoon.

this show peddled a very cheesy toy line. ha, i remember one of the episodes (maybe the first one?) had rambo laying around reading a book or magazine. quite funny.

All I remember about the show is that my mom wouldn't let me watch it. Now that I have the freedom to do so... I think I'll pass.

From the description of this cartoon it sounds like a G.I.Joe ripoff...except without the billions spent on highly specialized weapons that get damaged 3 minutes into the show.

uh, no. And yes it was a 2nd-rate attempt at replicating the G.I. Joe/Cobra success. And one of the more bizarre ideas to come out of the '80s pop-culture, if you ask me. Let's take an R-rated movie character, who originally was designed to represent the damage done to casualties of war through blood and graphic violence, and turn it into a Saturday morning cartoon where he fights a guy with an eyepatch.

I used to watch these... I can't really remember much about them, except for the opening titles, and my mom commenting on how it looked violent.

I went on ebay and looked up some of the old figures. From what I remember they were actually some pretty cool toys.

Yeah, I vaguely remember the toyline, but I don't remember the series at all.
