May (unusual 'horror' film from 2002)
I caught this unusual, yet fascinating independent horror/thriller/black comedy movie on HBO the other night. Has anyone seen it? It's sort of a modern take on Frankenstein and Carrie with a bit of Dolls and Frankenhooker thrown in for good measure.

I've been recommending MAY to people since last year, and I always get back the polar responses: Some people really get into it, the others are freaked out.
Then it becomes a whole nother matter when I have to explain how I find her so sexually appealing!

Yup, one of the best genre films in recent years along with Ginger Snaps, The Devil's Backbone, Donnie Darko and Tale of Two Sisters.

Another big
Angela Bettis is f'n scary in this flick but in a good way. I'm a Anna Faris fan, so that's a bonus.
Highly recommended for those who want something a little different.

It's getting boring to say so, but hey, this film rocks the big one so a massive thumbs up from me too. The quirky characters were incredibly well drawn and brought to life by the superb performances of the cast. I found myself laughing quite a bit early on, but then gradually squirming more and more as the film got grimmer ... Easily a 9/10 for me and one of my favourite films of that year.

Love May, I own the dvd and I have the poster up in the bedroom. The poster used to freak my roommate out. All of my friends hated the movie and I got so angry with them for not "getting" it.
If you all like this, and you seem to, you must watch Love Object. It is like the male version of May, this time with Desmond Harrington and a sex doll instead of Angela Bettis and a doll in a box.
They both make for a good double feature of modern doll freakiness with memorable and freaky lead charactors.

i love may and have a giant framed may poster above my hdtv. the commentary tracks are pretty good too i thought and one of them has some weirdo pretending to be the craft food services guy and everything he says cracks me up.

i wouldn't call this a great movie. it was different. and Angela Bettis makes the performance and movie strangely eerie enough to have it sit with you for some time after the conclusion. but i thought it was just ok in general. i think i expected more from this blind rental.

I saw this at the Florida Film Festival few years ago at one of the midnight showings, and was pretty entertained by it. I didnt know what to think about it at first, but then it grew on me and the ending was really good. About the best compliment I can give it is that my wife really liked it and she doesnt typically like horror movies. I never bought it on dvd as I kinda forgot about it because I didnt hear much about it after the festival, but I may pick it up now that I begin to remember it and how much I enjoyed it.

This movie made me squirm quite a bit, and I usually have a high tolerance for gore and such. To this day, I'm not sure if I like it or not. It's definitely worth a second viewing.
I watched this a couple years ago,
I didn't like that too much as it adds in
