Hmm, I don't know which it is. Does the commentary say anything about that?

Wow, I guess I get the be the first one to say that I didn't like it very much. just pretty disappointing overall with an ending I didn't think made much sense except to be shocking.

(I mean...
Spoiler:

She got ALL of the other parts from other people, so why wouldn't she just go out and get the eyes from another person? Mutilating herself made no sense in context to the rest of movie except to be "shocking".

Saw this back in 2002 when it premiered at the SF Int Film Festival. My friend and I had no idea what it would be about, but just decided to see it anyway with a packed theater. I wish you guys were there to hear and see the audience squirm.... it was hilarious. I loved this movie, and I think I was one of the few who had a smile on the face when the movie was over. It was too disturbing for a lot of people, but I thought it was great.
Spoiler:
Particularly loved the part with the kids crawling on broken glass

Spoiler:
The ending was realistic in the sense that one can view reality as a state of mind--imo, the ending was real to May but not what a sane person would have seen. Also, I think she forgot about the eyes and needed her doll to see her then. I could believe her cutting out her own eye easier than her going off to find an eye from someone else at that point

Overall, I liked it. It wasn't as horrifying as I was hoping for. More of a dark, comedic character study.

It was interesting watching her turn into an, um, ...nutcase... The gore was good. It was a bit to angsty for my tastes, with the Dashboard Confessional-like soundtrack and all.

I've never watched "May". Looks like I'll be renting it this week though after this thread.

I did however catch "Wicked" [98]

It's really interesting .. uh .. yeah.
