When will we see seaQuest on DVD, and who will release it?
I am curious to know who actually owns seaQuest. I know it was produced by Universal Studios (and it originally aired on NBC). However, I was under the impression that the SciFi Channel had purchased this show a few years back; or did they simply purchase rights to air the show?
(While I had considered posting this in the TV Talk forum, I thought I would post here since my question is relevant in the context of a future DVD release.)

Usually the company that produces the show, owns it. Any subsequent selling of TV airing rights doesn't impact any home video rights... unless of course those are also sold. So, to answer your question, Universal (as far as I know) would be the ones to release it onto DVD.

I'd buy it, from what I remember I liked it, and it had Roy Scheider!
Universal also needs to get their buts moving on releasing Peter Benchleys 'The Beast' that aired on NBC in mini-series form. It was put out on VHS in a version that cut about half of it out to fit a 2 hour movie format.
Heck, while we're at it release Peter Benchleys 'Creature' miniseries too, no idea who owns that, think it was on ABC.
Would it be worthwhile to email Universal about SeaQuest?

I'd buy it. Was it the 3rd season that they returned 20-something years in the future because of aliens? I don't think I even watched all of that season when it aired, I'd probably only buy that one just to complete the series (kinda like Highlander Season 6).

A definite purchase for me.....hopefully we will not have to wait too much longer. When one looks at some of the televisions sets which have been released, this series should make it one day.
