Bad Education...now in R1 as well

Though coming to R1 4 months later Almodovar's latest should be one of this year's strongest releases. Street date is April 12. The specs look on par with the UK disc. Info courtesy of the Times.UK

***
Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Bad Education for 12th April 2005 priced at $26.96 SRP. From director Pedro Almodovar comes this outrageous tale of desire, revenge and murder.

Features include:

* Anamorphic Widescreen Presentation
* Spanish DD5.1 Surround
* English subtitles
* Audio Commentary with director Pedro Almodovar
* Deleted Scenes
* Making of Bad Education

Regards,
Pro-B

ps
The same date sees the release of FLOWER OF MY SECRET

Will it be NC-17 like in theaters?

I am abit worried about Columbia now,since they released Young Adam with an NC-17 theatrically,then cut it down to an R for dvd(but included the 'uncut' footage as a special feature).

I am all for more NC-17 releases,but if studios are going to pull shit like Columbia did with Young Adam. It won't serve the rating any good and they might as well cut the film in the first place.

they did that?! I wasn't aware of that. I had seen the DVD at Hollywood Video and just thought it was alternate version of the film for the generic video rental chains. Wow, the folks at Columbia Home Video are complete jerks.

Great flick, and I'm glad it's finally coming out on DVD, but I'm passing.

The version I saw in theatres was NC-17, and that is what should be on DVD. If they have to make an edited R version for some stores, so be it, but it shouldn't replace the original cut.

Let's hope so,since that is not the case with Young Adam,unless you look into other reigions I am sure.

Then again Pedro is a pretty well know direction among critics and film fans. So I don't think Columbia would be stupid enough to piss them off,would they?

Now if some of the earlier Almodovar titles would show up ....

But happy to see this coming out, especially with commentary.

I actually don't even see why the film was rated NC-17 to begin with . There is no explicit sex nor even frontal nudity (although there have been many posts where people imagine there was).

I was disappointed in the film. Little character development. I love flashbacks/flashforwards in films so I looked forward to seeing this film. The first ten minutes were quite interesting and then it was like watching two old dancers who don't know when to sit down.

I must be missing something then, because I wasn't aware that titles such as Labyrinth of Passion, Dark Habits and Matador have been released in R1.

unbelievable crap....yet again!!!

I wonder if America really has its brains messed up.....how could anyone think of promoting a film...by having THIS...for a cover....

I am aware that foreign films dont get much attention in the US...but at least keep the original poster art with a decent 16/9 transfer. Really....that is ALL I am asking for.

What a travesty!!!!!!

Oh god that is the ugliest cover I have ever seen.

Why couldn't they use the same as the UK cover???

I agree it is awful. But I also think that the original film poster (that I saw) was pretty tragic too:

This image (or one similar) has been used for promotional purposes here as well and I find it more compelling:

Just wanted to add that "What Have I Done To
Deserve This" is also on dvd from the same
company (Wellspring).

Matador (Tartan) and Law Of Desire (Bluelight)
Can be had REG 2 but both transfers are pretty
poor.

I think there is also a Brazilian dvd of
Law Of Desire but with no english subs.
