Any news on a complete X-Files series set ?

Anyone heard if this is in the works at all ?

I know the Brazilan collectors set has up to season 5, with room for the others but I thought they'd release the whole shebang in a sweet looking package.

Cheers

I'm not sure why you'd think that. I can't think of any substantial multi-season series that has EVER been released like that in R1.

R1 hardly ever gets any full package of seasons of any show. I doubt x-files will be one of those till the msrp comes down some.

Both Star Trek TNG and DS9 have been released in "complete" collections. Voyager, too, IIRC.

TNG, DS9, Voyager are not fox products. As it stands the only Fox collections have been only in other Regions. Buffy and Futurama for example. None have yet been brougt to R1. so I don't see any evidence of it happening soon either.

And these "complete collections" are just the existing individual season releases, shipped at the same time. Without any real discount or any unique packaging.

DVD Josh is correct -- except for shows with a very brief run, we don't have any multi-season, complete sets in R1.

If they did it would be very expensive...even if the MSRP drops a little it will still be outrageous.

Yeah can you imagine if they even dropped to 50 each that would be $450! Ouch!

I have seen Futureshop (Canada) and Best buy have Seasons 1-8 sealed all together for under 400 Canadian.

According to tvshowondvd, R1 will be getting a "Conspiracy Collection" with 16 episodes from Seasons 1-3 in May. I'm guessing this is instead of a "Complete X-Files Series" box.

This actually could be a great idea. Buying full seasons is expensive, if people really get into the conspiracy, they want to see the other episodes. If Fox were really smart, they would remaster the the set in widescreen, provide brand new features , and people like me who own every season, would buy it for the new stuff. This way they get people to double dip, and maybe sell more full seasons when people getted hooked on this cheaper set.

You are right, they often are. The early seasons of x-files look excellent in widescreen, so do Kubrick's films, just because something has been shown open matte in the past, doesn't mean, it doesn't look good or was intended to be seen in widescreen.

I am actually surprised they havent just released a best of "mythology" episodes dvd set. That way you could get the whole story without the individual filler episodes. I personally like all the eps but for those who just want a short and to the point story-line.

I'd like to see them release a complete collection at a reduced price. MSRP of $400 or so would be nice. It'll never happen of course, but you can dream.

I'd also like to get a collector's box to store them all in. They should do a special edition of the movie and include something in it that you can send in to get a box like that. That would be nice.

With the second movie on the horizon you know they have to have something cooking for DVD. They'd be stupid not to double dip The X-Files.

I'd get seasons 1-5 if they lower the price and rerelease in simmer packaging. Or I may just wait for the eventual HD-DVD releases...

I loved the x-files growing up, it was a great show. I want to get this on DVD so bad but I can't really get involved buying a series of so many seasons at that much money per season. It's robbery.
