Regular ole busted TV question

I have a 27" SONY, about 10 years old. I was watching it when it went off with a slight hiss and won't come back on.

Is it usually cheaper to get them fixed, or to just buy a new one?

Sorry if this has a thread, but wasn't sure what to search under. "Televisions That Break" didn't do it!

Thanks!

Bri is right on. Your tv, for all purposes, is dead. Your tube went. That's practically as much as the tv itself. There is a SLIGHT possibility it was a transistor or fuse, but it isn't worth it to determine it.

Invest in a new 27" HD Panny and enjoy the ride ($500)

Also in agreement with everyone else. Toss it and get a new one. With the price of TVs today, you can't lose.
