weird paypal question

For Xmas, my sister and brother in law sent me a paypal gift certificate thing to me.. however they sent it to an email address that I no longer subscribe to. I looked on paypal and they said that gift certificates could be canceled if the recipient doesn't have a paypal account under that email, which I don't. However, my sister claims that she can't find out where or how to cancel the transaction. Does anyone know how she can do this... I would rather like to have my xmas money as opposed to the money being "donated" to paypal.

thanks!

Look under "help" then "top questions" if this link doesn't work.

If the payment has been sent to an invalid account, then the transaction should still be pending. There should be a "Cancel" button for that transaction. Tell your sister to hit that "Cancel" button and resend it! If the transaction status says "Completed", then you have no recourse.
