Opinions on this Ikea speaker stand?
Here is the link to the Ikea stands
I've never placed speakers on stands, so I'm a little unclear on the mounting process. I have 4 small JVC satellites (4 X 100watts), and I'm wondering if these will suffice. I LOVE the price. What do you think?

Not tall enough? How high do you recommend?

Here is Dolby Labs' recommendation.
No reason why you can't try your speakers at 33" to hear how they sound to you at that height.

Currently I don't even have a surround system because of money issues. However, I've been contemplating it a lot lately. I've had to factor in the price of the stands too. These stands aren't the nicest, but I think they'll be sufficient for a starter set.
Two to three feet above the listener for the rears? Eek. Going from nothing to a 5.1 setup, I don't think I'll care if the speakers are only 31" from the floor. Sounds like it would work.
Thanks for the info.

I have these. They work great. Where else are you going to get decent speker stands at a $30 price point? the concete bases are kinda annoying, but they are good for the money.

Does anyone know how much SHIPPING is at IKEA??? I went to check out and they did not give me a ship price. I don't want to get screwed by them, because I've heard their website is kind of difficult.
OR, can anyone recommend any other stands? I would like either 1 or 2 pairs for small JBL cube speakers.
THanks!

They are supposed to be available at most Walmart stores. I have seen the same design selling for about $75-90 elsewhere.

I was watching some stand up comedian one day, and he said do you know what Ikea stands for? it's Swedish for build this cheap crap your self..... hahahaha
everytime I goto IKea i get sucked in by the catolog and when I get to the airport size store, they don't have what I want. but I am happy because it saved me from buying anything at that place. I still never learn my lesson.
One day I was buying a new cabnet for my entertainment system, and they didn't have the one I had seen so I drove over to a stereo store and found a better cabnet then the one I was going to buy. about the same price but better made.

its an amazing forum in which we can have such a long thread about $30 speaker stands. maybe its just me, but this just doesnt seem like the kind of decision that should end up in a thread on a forum, let alone this many responses!
