The most disturbing scene in cinema's history

I've heard people say that Reservoir Dog's ear-cutting scene and American History X's curb-biting scene was disturbing, but it was actually not that bad in my opinion. To me, Requeim for a Dream's injection scene was more disturbing.

The films that vividly and graphically show children getting murdered I find pretty disturbing:

-The young boy who has his throat slit in the film "In A Glass Cage"

-The child that is butchered in "Men Behind the Sun"

-The boy that has his head cracked open and repeatedly smashed onto the corner of a wall in "1900"

Either the nudity in About Schmidt or the naked dance in Silence of the Lambs.

I have had nightmares about both.

'cause she's a stone fox!

As for most disturbing, I don't know, everyone's trying to one-up one another. But let me throw a nod to the past and Bunuel and Dali and a scene involving a razor and an eye in Un Chien Andalou.

oh man, why the hell did you have to go and remind me of that scene, definatley very very disturbing. I couldn't get that picture out of my head for weeks.

I also found the end of Dancer in The Dark to be very disturbing & upsetting, messed me up for days.

The Ray Liota - Anthony Hopkins scene at the end of Hannibal was pretty disturbing... pretty great, but pretty disturbing.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Take your pick as to which scene.

Also, the sloth scene in Seven is unsettling.

The scene in Princess and the Warrior where Bodo saves Sissi's life was hard for me to watch.

Probably would have to be Audition. Those that have seen it will know which scene I'm talking about.

Damn, didnt think of Audition til now, too intense, another Miike shocker is a scene from Ichii the Killer when 2 corrupt cops hold a hooker's nipple on a table and slide a razor blade across the table and cut it off, I wasn expecting it and had to turn my head. Ichii has more than a few scenes like this.

Last House on the Left -- lots of examples, but the scene where the guy gets "Bobbit-ized" is hard to think about...

Watching the horror flick Shattered Dead. The scene near the end when... (spoiler contains a scene from film and mature content)

Spoiler:
they put a close-up of the lead actress' vagina being penatrated by a gun while she diddled herself with her fingers.

I was completly shocked and had to watch it three more times to be sure I saw what I thought I saw. I can honestly say I've never seen anything like that in a non porn movie. So to say I was surprised is a understatment. You have to love independent horror movies...

A lot of scenes in Requiem For a Dream. I will also say that beginning battle in Gangs of New York where a guy has some of his face ripped off from inside his mouth. It was just a brief flash, but enough to let you know what he saw.

While not disturbing, but just wrong..
Spoiler:
The end of The Guyver movie has Mark Hamill transform into a giant bug and die. Not only poor effects, but he was Luke Skywalker for Pete's sake, give him some dignity!

While I do not know the movie, I remember seeing a film where a couple is kissing each other, and then through some sort of freak time riff they wind up with their faces melded together. Anyone else seen this film?

Most of Gummo. The first russian roulette scene at the P.O.W. camp in The Deer Hunter is pretty intense.

Agreed. &nbsp Just about all the scenes from Hannibal are disturbing to me: Disembowelment, flesh eating pigs, dogs eating human skin...

My other pick would be the chainsaw scene from Scarface.

For fiction, my vote's for Un Chien Andalou. I dreamed about it years later.

Runner up is Se7en.

Nonfiction disturbs me more. The German businessman who still has a map of Auschwitz on the wall of his office in Shoah, or the slow pan across the square from the train station to the concentration camp (which no one "knew about"). The doctor explaining that the young man will be on crutches by the time he's fifty if he does the knee surgery in Hoop Dreams.

I agree 100%

Not as much for visually disturbing content, but for the psychology behind the scene. The question kept popping in my head during the film, "would I take the pill or not." In all honesty I probably would have and, well I was shocked by the ending ....

That is when you know you have a winner of a film!

The eye piercing scene in 'Zombie' is pretty gut-wrenching...

Seconds for Requiem for a Dream - the injection/sex party/electrode montage.

I always wince when Mel gets gutted in Braveheart and also when the throats get slit...
