HP & The Prisoner of Azkaban : Lupin cast!
CBBC Newsround can confirm that an important role in the third Potter film, Prisoner of Azkaban, has been taken by award-winning British actor David Thewlis.
Thewlis will play kindly teacher Professor Lupin - who has a mysterious secret.
You may have seen him in the recent mini-series Dinotopia, or the fantasy film Dragonheart.

Sirius still isn't cast though.

As for the books/movies being the same
No, Lupin is the new defense against the dark arts teacher and though he has a secret, he is not the "problem" in the story.

It's too bad Marty Feldman is dead. He'd make a fantastic Mad Eye Moody. But then, Ronald Lacy would make a pretty good Moody. This is based on his performance as the Bishop of Bath and Wells in Blackadder II
Ric Mayall would be a riot in the role, as well. He's a bit of a walleye anyway. ...And jack's right. Mad Eye doesn't show up till the next movie.
When I was reading the book, I thought of Lupin as a bit younger than David Thewlis. I rather think the guy who plays Jeff Murdoch in Coupling would make a good Lupin.
Rufus Sewell would be a good Sirius Black because he's a bit scary looking and plays a good psycho, but he also has that puppy dog look to him at times. This is an asset for the character
.
(ps to mods: I am having trouble with my isp and set up a temp account till my isp stops screwing up and gives me my email account back. till they do, I have no way of getting my dang-blasted damn_password. Bastiges. Thanks for your understanding - MT)

As for Moody, if they were able to do to Gary Oldman what they did to him in Hannibal, I don't think his look is going to be a problem in Goblet.

Like Jack said, I think you may have Azkaban confused with Goblet. And FYI, NOT ALL DADA teachers "kicked the bucket" Lockhart didn't die, and as for Lupin and Moody, I won't spoil it for those who haven't read the books.

I thought I read an article sometime last week, that Sirius will be played by none other than Gary Oldman. It was in an article that also talked about his role in the BMW films as the Devil.
But I could be wrong.

Oldman has been offered the role as the rumors go and I'm one to believe the those. I would say it's just a matter of time till WB announces it.

I have no knowledge of anything Harry Potter outside of the 2 films, so when I saw the word "lupin" I immediately thought of the MP sketch.
