Cult movies, anyone?
I'm really into cult flicks - films that are so bad that they're good, really weird movies that seem to rub off on you.
Some of my favorites are Five Deadly Venoms, Caligula, Young Lady Chatterly, the Toxic Avenger series and Surf Nazis Must Die.
Anyone else have their favorite cult movies to share?

From the ones you mentioned, I've only seen Caligula; didn't really grab me though. Eraserhead, Freaks, Plan 9 from Outer Space, A Boy and his Dog, Dark Star, Zardoz, & Glen or Glenda? are some that I like. One of the first books about film I bought was Cult Movies by Danny Peary. Although many of the titles he writes about are more mainstream/classic than bizarre.

I think there is a difference between Cheesy Movies (i.e. movies that are so bad, they're good) and Cult Movies (i.e. movies with a relatively small, devoted following), because a cult movie is not necessarily cheesy. And I am a big fan of Danny Peary's three Cult Movies books -- it's too bad they are out-of-print because I only have the first one and would like to own the other two, which I haven't read in years. (Plus it's really too bad that Peary's cult movie books are out-of-print, while Philip & Karl French's rather mediocre book, also called Cult Movies, is currently still in print.)
One of the most recent films that struck me as having a lot of cult potential is Ravenous because not many people saw it, but I think it could easily build up a cult following. Another is Donnie Darko.

One thing I've learned on these boards: Every movie has its own devoted cult. Even unreleased ones like Fantastic Four.
