movie posters
Does anyone happen to know where I would be able to buy those "AUTHENTIC" (not reprints) movie posters? Can I get them right when the movie first comes out somehow, from somewhere? and when the movie is done showing?

by 'authentic', you mean one that has a release date on it and not the kind you can buy at the above link right? the only way i know to get those is to talk to the theater manager and see what they do with theirs when they switch them out.

ebay. there are many people who sell the double sided originals. i have the episode 2 teaser, and i am aiming at the rules of attraction and charlie's angels 2 teasers as well. the expensive posters are for the older films or disney films. there is a lot of talk about posters in the current "post pictures of your dvd collection" thread.

You can go to Suncoast video if you have one at your mall. They have original 40x27 movie posters there. Their selection tends to suck though, but you can at least get the current movie posters there. Their posters go for about $20 than they are sold on a cardboard card, so they are not all rolled up and creased through.
They also have frames, which also sell for $20. Really simple and a bit overprices, but they really make for a good presentation of your poster once you mount it.
Unfortunately, Allposters.com is a printshop. Everything I have bought from them are reprints. They don't have orginal posters AFAIK.
I myself am looking for a place that I can pick of an original poster for Hero the Movie. Someone please let me know where that can be picked up at.

Work at a movie theatre and be the poster guy...I get whatever I want. Already have the Matrix teaser and a couple of the characters on my walls already. SOrry, just had to rub it in.
But seriously...I'm sick of people asking at my job if they can have them, the employees get them, end of story...do they think they are the first customers to ask? Haha...I must laugh.
Again though, I'm sure you must have a friend who works at a theatre or someone you know, there's tons of us around and you should see the amount of posters for each movie we get. Its ridiculous. Take for example "Star Trek: Nemesis" (off the top of my head) as we must have gotten at least 50 posters for that one alone. Its ridiculous!

what is the difference with originals/authentics and others? are all double-sided posters authentic? is there anything more special about an original than a reprint that looks the same even backlit?

.
Usually, orginals are of better print quality and printed on thicker paper. There is typically less bleeding in the print on originals. I don't know if they are numbered or not or if double sided posters gaurantee it being an original. But your right, if presented correctly, it is tough to tell the difference. Although an authentic/original poster is worth way more than the paper that it was printed on. Which is something that you cannot say about a reprint.
Hmmmm. Welp, the only orginal poster I have is of the Color of Money. And that thing won't fit in the 27x40 frame that I got from Suncoast. There may be some validity in your statement, or I may just have a badly cut poster from the run
.
Damn posterboys :P

I heard if the poster 27x41 it is an original, if its 27x40 its a re-print. Interesting fact if true.

They claim to see both reprints and authentics. They also have lobby cards and other stuff. The stuff I have gotten from them has been really good.
Enjoy

Err.... not quite. Generally speaking, all original movie posters made before the mid-1980's were folded and measured 27" x 41". Most contemporary one-sheet originals are 27" x 40".
There are some exceptions but the above rule is generally true.
You can find more information here: http://www.reelartgallery.com/inform...e_posters.html
It's quite a handy source of movie poster info.
