a simple question re: Gandalf and TTT
having never read the books, I have one question after having seen TTT last week. Are the 'reinforcements' that Gandalf brings back for the battle at Helm's Deep the faction of the loyalists that fled Rohan earlier in the film?

Yes, although this scene is one of many in TTT that differs greatly from the book version. Reading the book would not give you any greater insight to the movie version of this scene.

For the Film: I'd say yes
For the Book: I'd say no
But I certainly could be mistaken.
