Howie Day...fantastic!!
Hey all,
I just caught a guy named Howie Day on tour with Tori Amos. I bought his album a couple of days ago (right after) and I have to say how fantastic I think it is. He's absolutely wonderful live and he layers his own music right in front of you. I cannot recommend it enough. The album is Australia and I picked it up at Best Buy for 9.99. Although I prefer him live with just the guitar...he does a great job on this album.
Anyone know anything about him? Am I the only one with this album? I have to say that I think this is only the second time that I've gone out and bought an opening acts album after seeing them in concert (the first being Lifehouse). Totally worth it.

Agreed!
I saw him on tour with Heather Nova this year. He was amazing. Just him with his guitar and a sample machine replacing the band. I bought "Australia" right at mechandise stand. Great album! I've heard he's got a major label contract now (same label as tori amos, hence the suppor slot); a new album is planned for early next year ("Australia" is from 2000, I believe).
Lifehouse is a very impressive band, too, IMO. Although I like their first album better than the new one.

I've been a fan of Howie's for a year or maybe nearing two. He's really really good. If you like Howie you should also check out Jason Mraz. By the way, when you go and see Howie again have a talk with him after the show. He's a really nice guy.

Wow you're right Jason Mraz is good. Thanks a lot for the recommendation. I could see myself really liking this guy.

Jack...
GET IT! I've had it on repeat since I got it on Sunday. Cannot stop listening to it.
I think i'm going to bid on ebay to get the Promo EP he has out.
And then there's all the recordings from his concerts. Hear that mods???? HE ALLOWS tapings.
There's a huge fan base out there with tons of recordings from the past 2-3 years.
He's definitely got me hooked.

Can you believe I still can't get enough of this CD? It hasn't really left my player.
This guy needs to get a new cd out soon
I'd love to get some of those ALLOWED LIVE recordings.
Has anyone ever taped any of his shows? Do they have a tapers pit like some concerts I've heard of?

go to www.thehdtb.com and look around there. They'll point you in the right directino for getting full shows or random live mp3s.
He's got a lot of new songs in addition to the ones on "Australia"
I reccomend madrigals, brace yourself, feel much better/i'll take you on (still hasn't officially named it), sweet, and bunnies are all potential songs for the next album.
Buzzing is an awesome studio recorded non-Australia release as well.

DVD Talk Special Edition
Started listening to Howie about six months ago because my niece was playing his cd in the car. I liked what I heard and bought both of his cd's. Then I found out he was playing at the House Of Blues so I went to check him out. The show was awesome and he seemed really down to earth.

He hasn't toured solo in quite some time.
