The best music to play for halloween

Well, what do you consider the music to play at a halloween party, or a little home made haunted house for trick or treaters?

One thing that comes to mind is the classic monster mash.

A year or three ago someone made me a Halloween compilation: the only track I can remember is that one! If I can dig it out I'll post the tracklisting here!

Siouxsie And The Banshees:juju

Hey, with tracks liked "Spellbound","Halloween", "Night Shift", "Head Cut", and the grand finale "Voodoo Dolly", you can't go wrong on this one. One of my favorite goth rock album of all time.

Misfits have been in my stereo for the past dozen or so Halloweens. Also, it's nice to crank some Alice Cooper... "Black Juju", "Ballad of Dwight Fry", "Dead Babies", "I Love the Dead", etc.

After carving the ol' jack-o-lantern tonight with my 4 year-old daughter I thought she might like to hear some Halloween music.

definitely strong agreement on Bela Lugosi's Dead by Bauhaus. There's something about that minimalist musical arrangement that is creepy even by itself.
Siouxsie and the Banshees is also a good choice.
I'll throw in some of the music from Donnie Darko, Echo and the Bunnymen's "The Killing Moon" and Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" specifically.

Time to break out the horrorcore hip-hop. Gravediggaz!

The "Dawn of the Dead" soundtrack by Goblin is great, too.

I've already listened to every Siouxsie album this October, and will likely give juju and a couple other favorites another spin soon. Also the Silence of the Lambs soundtrack is great to fall asleep to this time of year.

The Shaggs - It's Halloween
Beat Happening - Black Candy
- Pajama Party In A Haunted Hive
Halo Benders - Big Rock Candy Mountain
Frank Zappa - The Torture Never Stops
Nick Cave - Red Right Hand ..& probably lots of other Cave..
The new Tom Waits, Real Gone, is pretty scary stuff & plenty of his older songs could qualify as well (Black Wings, Murder in the Red Barn, Down Down Down...)

I like Zombie Jamboree by Rockapella. If you're doing a Halloween Party mix with stuff like Monster Mash, Time Warp, etc, it fits in perfectly.
