I was thinking about the same Type O song. I would also say the soundtrack to Suspiria. I find it very unnerving.

Heh heh...I was going to bump this tonight, but you beat me to it. I'm planning on making a mix for my nephews and would like to know if there's anything else out there (in addition to some of the great stuff already listed).

How about the Cramps on Halloween?

Throw in the Munsters and Adams Family themes too.

For some weird Euro-horror music, check out some of the themes from Goblin, which did music for Dawn of the Dead, Deep Red and Suspiria, among others.

Also, the X-Entertainment site has a jukebox full of Halloween songs that contains a lot of what's been mentioned here. And they're all free and downloadable!

Disney put out the entire soundtrack to the Haunted Mansion a while back. Amazon shows some "Soundtrack" version with other music on it, but I have a CD with the whole "Grim Grinning Ghosts" track for the ride. about 20 minutes long....

the soundtrack for Suspiria is great - with 'Witch' getting whispered at various points during the song.

I played the following music into the street last night for trick or treaters. I only had about 5 minutes to put it together, so it's not definitive.

Goblin - "Suspiria" (from Suspiria)
Alejandro Amenábar - "The Attic" and "They Are Everywhere" (from The Others)
RZA - "Ghost Dog Theme" and "Dead Birds" (from Ghost Dog)
Dominic Harlan - "Musica Ricercata, II" (from Eyes Wide Shut)
Money Mark - "Spooky" (from Mark's Keyboard Repair)
Air - "Cemetery Party" (from The Virgin Suicides)
Joe Hisaishi - "Procession of the Spirits" (from Spirited Away)

Kind of like "Monster Mash" but better.

I have no idea whether this is available for purchase - I listen to a scratchy 45 from 1958 or so.

And the song is based on the childrens hymn "Jesus loves me this I know"...

Nox Arcana also has some pretty creepy music...check 'em out.

Here it is Halloween day and no one's bumped this? For shame.

My sole contribution for this year:

Jonathan Coulton's "RE: Your Brains" - It's about a year old, but I just discovered it over the weekend. And it cracks me up. It's sung from the perspective of a zombie who is negotiating with a former co-worker regarding the eating of his brain. It's catchy. It's funny. It's about zombies. It has it all.

"I'm not a monster, Tom
Well, technically I am"

You can download it for free here.

A fan video made up from Shaun of the Dead clips:

Not necessarily an appropriate selection but bloody hell, that intro to "What I've Done" by Linkin Park always has me thinkin' it was ripped off from one of the Halloween movies.
