Pete Yorn, Musicforthemorningafter (2-disc)
Just discovered this album. Kinda like the cover on disc 2 of "Dancing in the Dark." Anyone have strong feelings about this album? I'm looking particularly for any comments on the covers on disc 2 and the music videos? Do they sweeten the deal, or are they a neutral? Should I put down the money for it?
Anyone?

Heck, I'm such a smuck I upgraded to the 2 disc. I love this album, one of my 'Someone takes I hunt them down and Kill them" cds. The Springsteen covers and Bowie's "China Girl" are great.

Man, I got this album almost two years ago. Glad you discovered him, though. Yeah, I loved the album too and have also upgraded to the two disc but still keep the single disc. The covers are great and wish it had more covers on the 2nd disc.

Yeah, I went and bought it. I really like the Springsteen covers too.
The only thing that kinda bothers me is that he's sort of this pretty boy, and all these articles and reviews always talk about his looks, and I feel like I have to keep saying, "Yo, I bought it for the music. Just calm yourselves." HA.

What covers are on the second disc? I have the original and think that it's a shame he doesn't catch on more. He played in NYC last night at a LIfebeat benfit with Jimy Eat World, The Hives, and Sugarcult. His set was probably the shortest and he opened and closed with covers: The Cure's "Inbetween Days" and G'nR's "Patience". Both were incredible but were difficult to hear (it was only him and the drummer from Jimmy Eat World) due to the mixed crowd which largely consisted of K-Rock frat kids with no interest in music that they cannot pummel each other to. Still, a short but enjoyable set.
BTW - he played a new song (forget the name) that was pretty good and another song that I haven't heard before. It was about Jeff Buckley and Pete Yorn said that he wrote on the day that Buckley died. Does anyone know the title and what it's on? Thanks.

man, that would have been cool to hear him do "Patience."
The second disc has four (?) covers, but off the top of my head, I only remember, "New York Serenade," "Dancing in the Dark," (both Springsteen), "China Girl" (Bowie) and I think some Smiths song. I don't know anything about the Smiths though, so I could be wrong about that. In any case, it was some song I'd never heard of, and I'm sure some fan of the Smiths or whoever originally sang the song is laughing at me now.

Thanks for the info. "Patience" was cool but I have to admit that his cover of "Inbetween Days" was better. It seems like right now is a good time to be a G'nR fan even though the VMA performance was kind of strange.
