Just started liking jazz guitar and....

...want to get more into it. Can you reccomend me some great jazz gutiarists? I just listened to Pat Metheny's album "Question and Answer" and it's a great album. I enjoyed what I heard a lot. I would like to get into more jazz guitar. Thanks if anyone can help.

Try out Charlie Hunter. He's got a few albums out and plays an 8 string guitar. The newest is Songs from the Analog Playground.

Some others to check would be George Benson, Wes Montgomery, and Stanley Jordon.

Depends on what you're into...

If you like a lot of notes try Wes Montgomery, Al Di Meola or Stanley Jordan.

If you want to hear more chording and comping try Joe Pass or Django Rheinhardt.

More "folky"? Try Tuck Andress.

Metheny is OK but he's a little soft for my tastes...

Question and Answer is a fantastic album but most Metheny is not like that album. Question and Answer was recorded live in the studio with just guitar, bass and drums...nice and raw. Most of his music is not like that...not that the other stuff is bad.

Joe Pass is the best IMO. Try the album "My Song".

Mark Whitfield is great too. Try the album "7th Ave. Stroll"...it wont dissapoint.

If you want more groove/funk oriented style try John Scofield. The album "A Go Go" is a real hip album.

If you are into fusion try Frank Gambale or Alan Holdsworth.

As Gdrlv said try out Charlie Hunter...he does some very interesting things on the guitar. His first album has the original drummer from Primus...it's pretty good stuff.

Charlie Christian is pretty cool. The father of all electric guitarists.

Les Paul's records with Mary Ford have some of the best guitar playing I've ever heard.
