What are some good Japanese RPGs for Dreamcast?

Since no one is really offering a trade for my Dreamcast, I guess I'll keep holding onto it. Anyway, my friend is going on a trip, and I was wondering what I should ask him to bring back for me. So far I am looking for the Japanese versions of Grandia II and Skies of Arcadia. What other cool Japanese RPGs are there?

Another one of my friends wants Japanese dating sims for the Dreamcast, so I may vicariously ask for those. What are some good ones? I know he really likes Kanon, but doesn't have the game yet.

Thanks for any info.

I'm assuming you can read Japanese, otherwise I'm not sure why you would want those versions over the US releases. Anyway, no answers, just a question.

never bothered much with japanese RPG's since i don't know japanese and all, but i think some people like that capcom series... i forget the name, but there were like 10 volumes to it. i don't think there were many other quality RPG's that didn't make it to the US. now if you want weird sims like segagaga or RTS like hundred swords, you could still put your japanese to the test.

Putting the language barrier aside, some people prefer the Japanese versions because of several reasons, which are usually more preferrable to the gamers, like less censorship, original speech, integrity, much better packaging artwork and designs, limited edition extras, etc. Localized games are still bastardized, although not as bad as a decade ago, but still none the less undesireable. In other words, hardcore gamers import games because they don't want to deal with the bullsh1t from the US branch companies.

I'm not sure about some of these as I've never played them...but there are a number of Sakura Taisen games that were released for Dreamcast only in Japan. For dating sims....I think there's a Love Hina game for DC and a ton of other ones...check www.ncsx.com for a list. Some people might consider Shenmue 2 an RPG (I wouldn't)...from the E3 movies the xbox version looked pretty much the same as the Dreamcast version, so you might like that one too and won't miss out on much if you get it early. The japanese voice acting is done by some famous seiyuu's and is excellent!
