Making PSX(PSOne) games look better on the PS2?

I remember hearing about this when the PS2 came out. There is some sort of mode you can make the PS2 games look better? You can choose between looking better or running faster. How do I enable or get at that? Did a google search, scoured the manual, can't find peep.

Thanks!

Try turning the PS2 on without a disc inserted. It should bring up an option for a browser within which there are configuration options that'll let you make that choice.

Personally, I've never played PSX games on my PS2 so I'm not sure.

The games have this weird plaid-color banding on the textures like when you save a 24 bit color into a 16 color gif. I'll check the configuration options again.

OK I found it. Thanks for the help. You push the triangle button and it brings up the driver versions and then you just edit the PSX drivers.

You can smooth out some jaggies, and also take advantage of the faster CPU. It speeds up the load times alot!

It really depends on the game as to whether these changes will make a difference. Be carefully using both enhancements at the same time. I've had games lock up using both.
