Life doesn't always
Go my way, ______

Kind of like Mad Libs!

Very funny!

I can hear the record exec now..."No, Britney, a noun is a person, place or thing."

That's pretty funny, however I don't think anyone listens to Britney because of her "artistic" writing abilties.

She's an entertainer. Pure and simple. And, she's a very good entertainer.

Absolutely. And not even a good one at that.
More like a tease.

I'm quite sure I don't get the joke that started this thread. I don't see the humor there.

As for disparaging someone you don't know and obviously hate with a passion, it's their poragative. If that's how they really feel they shouldn't be chastised for saying so. I think Britney is really hot. Some people don't think so. What difference does it really make? I'm not changing my opinion because of them.

I think the problem that I have with these types of artists is there attitudes. They all act like they are the big thing. They don't realize they are gonna fade away just like every other 'teen' band. Can you seriously image Britney's concerts selling out when she is 45 years old? The other thing that drives me nuts is when they call themselves musicians. They are singers and dancers. I have yet to see any 'teen' band pickup a guitar or even sit down at a piano. Musicians play music. I would have a much greater respect if these bands accepted what they are.

Aren't vocals instruments? I mean, they produce tone, melody, rhythm... I have never thought of Britney Spears and the rest of the vanguard of the Teen Pop fad as non-musicians. They do make music... it just sucks.

So you are saying that every person in the world is a musician just because they have a voice?

I know you weren't asking me, but I just wanted to jump in on this a little bit.

I would answer yes to that. Some very talented singers are just that - singers. They don't write the lyrics or play the music, but they can sing their arse off. And for that, I would lump them in with musicians. It takes talent to be able to sing. Not just anyone can do it. For some it's natural, others have to work at it and practice just as anyone who plays an instrument would have to practice.

From what I can remember Billie Holiday didn't write lyrics or play an instrument, but I would never NOT call her a musician or artist.

I wouldn't put Billie Holiday and Britney Spears in the same category. If I were polite, I would say that BS is a very attractive "performer" with catchy, non-offensive songs. Not much more than that.

On principle alone, I just can't allow you to compare Britney Spears to Billy Holiday.

Billie Holiday was a true musician who didn't have to tease the audience with her body. She wowed the audience with her talent.

I garauntee you that if Britney Spears didn't have that hot little body, she wouldn't even exist on the radar screens of the music business.

I'm not sure how some of you got that I was comparing Britney to Billie. I didn't. I was giving my opinion to the question of whether or not vocalists can be considered musicians.
