Human feet found near Richey Manic disappearance spot sent for analysis
GWENT POLICE have sent the remains of human feet discovered in the RIVER SEVERN - close to where RICHEY EDWARDS disappeared seven years ago, for analysis.
As previously reported, the bones, contained inside Diadora trainers, were found by a fisherman on Saturday evening (March 23) while he was walking along the riverbank near the village of Sudbrook.
The search for the rest of the body has continued in the area today (March 26) using a police helicopter and Search And Rescue teams, but nothing has yet been uncovered.
Detective Sergeant Dave Edwards, who is leading the investigation said: "The trainers and remains have now been sent to a pathologist for analysis and enquiries are ongoing both locally and in the surrounding forces, looking at outstanding missing people, in the hope to make an identification."
A spokesperson for Gwent Police told NME.COM that an identification has not yet been made, and the possibility the remains could be that of the Manic Street Preachers guitarist is just one avenue they are exploring.
She commented: "He's a missing person but we're in contact with the National Missing Persons Bureau to make sure we check out every eventuality."
Identification is currently being based on existing missing person's files.
Edwards disappeared in February 1995, and his car was soon discovered nearby.

Richey Edwards' disappearance is definitely one of the strangest things that's happened in the music world in quite a while. Hopefully, his family and the band will finally get some resolution to the matter. Based on those findings though, it doesn't really sound as though the resolution will be an altogether pleasant one.

unfortunately not his feet

GWENT POLICE have ruled out a link between missing MANIC STREET PREACHERS guitarist RICHEY EDWARDS and a pair of decomposed feet found near the RIVER SEVERN.
As previously reported, police contacted the Edwards family after a fisherman discovered a size eight Diadora trainer with a sock and the remains of human foot bones on the banks of the River Severn, near the village of Sudbrook last weekend.
Edwards' sister Rachel told police yesterday (March 27) she did not believe the trainers could have been his, despite the fact Richey wore a size eight shoe. However, police were keeping their options open that that time.
Police have revealed this morning the trainers were first manufactured in 2001. As a consequence, the investigation continues, but Edwards has been eliminated from their enquiry. He disappeared in February 1995.
Detective Sergeant Dave Edwards of Gwent Police, who is leading the inquiry, said: "We recently spoke to Diadora and the trainers were manufactured and distributed in 2001. This has helped the enquiry enormously and we've been able to eliminate a number of missing persons, including Richey Edwards of the Manic Street Preachers ."
The search for the rest of the body continues today, with the aid of Search And Rescue dogs.
