I just wanted to post a quick reminder that with all the posts about the new game systems out there it's important that things do not degrade into 'X console rules and Y console sucks' posts.

Its pretty safe to say that it's way too early to be really judging any of the new consoles. The real proof of these systems will be in their game support over the next few years, not just how they look on day 1.

I'd like to ask you all to try to focus on personal experiences with the new (and old systems), everything from what you like to what you don't, problems you've had and how you've fixed them.

I see this forum area as a great resource for people to come together and compare notes and help eachother out.

I know there are a LOT of people trying to make up their mind about which console to buy. I myself have poundered about getting either and XBox or Game Cube and I can tell you that I REALLY value the members who take the time to post info, reviews, links and tips and really DON'T apreciate reading system bashing.

I totally agree. I think we have had some good debates over the positives and negatives of each system, but there have been a few too many Xbox or Gamecube posts that are pure bashing without any facts.

Still compared to the childishness on Usenet I think this forum has done pretty well. One thing is for sure, there will be a lot of happy gamers by next week.

another vote for some sanity! its a game system and please, buy what you like.

Yes, i too am trying to decide what console to buy but I never bought one in my life.. I need mature evaluations of the consoles out there, it's a lot of money to spend for me...

I am in the same boat you are...long-time, old school gamer weaned on Atari. All the new consoles are interesting and I have at least played some games on all of them. It's a great time to be a gamer...but not so great on the wallet .

Yeah this forum is cool but its the people here that make it cool . I noticed a lot of people here talk with a lot of sarcasm about the IGN forums so I went and check it out yesterday. And they are absolutely right its ridiculous, I wonder why they even bother keeping their forums with all the yapping on it, its crazy.

There are lots of different/opposing views here but thats the great thing about this place, the debates are fairly intellectual and factual based (most of the time ), but no one tries to impose their views on other people. Just wanted to say thanks for creating this forum!

My advice to you Geoff is try to censor those whom you view as trashing console brands. I mean as Moderator, you should have power to do that, right?

Perhaps you should put rules about posting here. Those who do violate your rules, just closed their thread with warning. And ban them is they continue posting the same type of thread.

Hey Geoff, this seems like somewhat of a feedback thread for this forum... First, I'd like to say you and Namja do a great job moderating this place. But Namja (being in Law School) and you running a busy web site and having a wife and family, well you guys are both very busy bees . Is there any chance of bringing a person who is less busy to moderate this place? Again, I'm not critiqueing you guys at all, you guys are doing a fine job.
