CDWOW: 2008 - Discounts, Vouchers, Bargains, & Discussion
As always, here is the $2 off voucher link that we're always talking about.
koloughlin, Kevin from CDWOW, has really been a huge help in these threads. He recently talked about some big changes coming to the site around March or so, so stay tuned for that.

Welcome to 2008!
Thanks to Brent L for that intro... hopefully we'll have nice things to shout about here in the coming weeks.
The Criterion Collection: Sword Of The Beast was on offer for $13.95... unfortunately now SOLD OUT.
Sorry about that... I'll get back to ye when we add some more nice titles, and once we get that Collectors Corner section sorted out.
Sorry to repeat myself, but I think the January Sale is worth mentioning again.
I've added all discounted DVDs to the Bargain Basement to make it easier for you to sort by region and price.

Did the Criterion release of Coup de Grace also sell out? I ordered it on Dec 21st, but it still has not shipped.

Any reason why the Bargain Basement link on the site defaults to showing R1 titles only? I prefer being able to see the R2 and R3 DVDs included in the list, such as via the link below:

My recommendations, what I would have bought had I not paid more for them before
Ultimate Flint (3-disc) 6.95 (campy spy spoof)
Mysterious Skin 6.95 (underappreciated film though maybe not for everyone)
Dracula A.D. 1972 2.99 (campy but it's Hammer)
The Gladiator and Austin Powers collection are well priced
What I'm getting, have not seen these
Ladykillers (2004) 2.99 Love the Alec Guiness version and preparing to be disappointed, but it's Cohen bros and cheap as a rental.
Undead 6.95 Keepin' up the zombie collection
Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore 6.95 Just cuz it's Scorsese and I love Ellen Burstyn
Repo Man 6.95 for the 80's
Feel free to point out any hidden gems or ridicule my picks.

Send me the confirmation number and I'll check out the status of your order - [email protected].
I can most definitely say that things have improved immensely. We are a completely different company since the new owners took over... and it's been great!
Literally every aspect of the company has been, or is being, addressed and solutions are being put in place every day.
Although... I'm still here so maybe there are still problems that need to be addressed....
Hopefully the service will continue to improve, and you'll see the changes for yourself in March when our new site goes live!
I'll check itout and let you know tomorrow if there have been problems I'm not aware of. I was buying CDs and DVDs weekly so I could keep an eye on dispatch and delivery times (and they were very much improved) but I haven't bought anything in 2008 yet... despite the sale!

Description: DVD Region 1 - The Criterion Collection: Coup de Grace-a film by Volker Schloudorff
I have not got mine either - I was charged by Worldpay on 12/22. However. I did get my Sword of the Beast today.

Many of you prefer to buy R2 or R3 DVDs whch is why, as you pointed out, there is an option to view the full list and sort by region / price / genre or title.
And as someone recommended here before, we'll add an option soon to allow users view just Region 3 titles.

My orders placed late December just got shipped as well.
Kevin: would it be possible to set up a Return process for US customers in which we can mail returned merchandise to CDWow's US address in Maryland instead of the UK address?

Kevin, is there a way to pre-order something without paying at the time the order is made? I don't want to pre-order now and pay for it if the item only gets released in March (Grindhouse Box). Is there another way?

I ordered two discs on 1/2, one was dispatched already (it showed dispatched on the 8th I think, and got a email yesterday. the website shows dispatched+email sent on that title) and the second one now shows dispatched also yesterday but no email.) so it took a week to go out..

Newsflash: It still takes CDWOW a long time to get orders out. I placed an order for three items on December 31. Two shipped yesterday, January 9th. One is still pending. This doesn't bother me because I expect this from CDWOW, but this lackadaisical approach to fulfilling orders should definitely be taken into account when deciding whether to place an order with them.

Without that discount, most titles, including many Bargain Basement items, become far less attractive. For example, BFI titles now cost $23, a whopping $8 more.
