Puscifer: V is for Vagina

The Maynard James Keenan side project, Puscifer, released their new album on their MySpace site. The CD comes out on Tuesday. After one listen, I'm impressed. Some very cool dark/trippy stuff on there.

I saw this advertised in a flyer and thought 'why the hell would they advertise THIS?', but now that I know it's Maynard, I'm gonna have to look into it!

The thing is.... Are we supposed to take this seriously? Honestly, I think MJK can do no wrong but this album is basically made to promote the Puscifer clothing line right?

I thought this was pretty awful, too much spoken word type songs. Only decent tune to my ears was the lounge version of Rev. 22:20.

Very cool background-type music. I could see some of this stuff winding up in film/TV.

I've listened to most of the album, and have enjoyed it quite a bit. Very different sound...kind of like Nick Cave maybe? I've only heard a few of his songs (long ago) but for some reason I'm reminded of that style of sound.

Not my bag, baby. Not my bag.

And for we, the uninitiated, is it pronounced "POOS-if-er" or "PUS-if-er"?

And does he really want any success at all, with an album title like that? Or is this just "fun" stuff?

It is pronounced like lucifer but with a "p". This album is a piece of shit. The Puscifer website had different versions of The Undertaker and Rev. 22:20 availabe for listen. If the album sounded anything like that, it would have been awesome. I don't need to hear MJK talk in a growl for 10 tracks. Very disappointing.

Rev 22:20 is the only song I've heard, which I like. I may have to listen to the rest of the album before buying, if the consensus is it sucks.

based on maynards blogging, and write ups of various things I feel he makes it seem that this is just a way for him to unload the weird stuff going on inside his head since APC and Tool aren't viable outlets for the unusual.

Welcome to Puscifer, my creative subconscious. Welcome to the party that goes on in my head 24 hours a day. Welcome to my island of misfit ideas. The space where my Id, Ego, and Anima all come together to exchange cookie recipes. This is a space without any hard edges. It's a space with no clear or discernable goals. CHECK YOUR OVER INFLATED EXPECTATIONS AT THE DOOR. Cuz this is simply a playground for the various voices in my head. Come play with us.
Put Puscifer on your page..

You Guyz Are All Idiots And Dont Know Good Music If It Came Up And Made Love To Your Sister In Front Of Your Eyes!!!!

Momma Sed - Undertaker - Vagina Mine - Queen B Are All Excellent Excellent Excellent Excellent Songs!

There Are A Couple "so So" Songs But On The Whole The Album Is Excellent And Everyone Should Give It A Try For A Couple Listens. A Few Of The Songs Like "momma Sed" Take A Few Listens Until You Get The "feel" For It But Once You Get It The Songs Are As Good As Gold.

In Fact, I Like This Puscifer Album Better Than 10,000 Days From Tool!

It Sure Has Got The Seriousness/funny Paradox Goin And Well Done Mr. Keenan!

Great Job On The Album And I Look Foward To A New One From Puscifer!

I Rate Vagina Mine A 9 Out Of 10.

Apc Thirteenth Step Was A 10/10 In My Opinion.

Lateralus Was A 10/10.

10,000 Days Was A 7.5/10

So That Puts It Right Up There Among The Best Music Maynard Has Produced Yet!

What style is that? Capitalizing the first letter of each word?

All I am saying is that Puscifer is a great band when you actualy take the time and listen to all tracks but the popular Rev 22:10 or whatever it is.

Momma Sed, Undertaker and Vagina Mine are awesome!
