DVD Talk Joins Internet Brands
DVD Talk Forum Members,
I wanted to share with you the news that DVD Talk has decided to join Internet Brands.
Internet Brands, Inc. operates a number of other very popular sites and forums including CarsDirect.com, Wikitravel.org, FlyerTalk.com and ApartmentRatings.com. They bring a level of support and infrastructure we feel is essential to the growth of DVD Talk.
We of course plan to continue to run DVD Talk as a stand-alone site, along with a much needed new support structure available to us from Internet Brands which includes technology and content resources we’ll use to grow.
The only real changes planned for DVD Talk as a result of this is: an upgrade to the DVD Talk forum and a migration to an even bigger faster server (with more load balancing and faster page loads)
I plan to continue to play an active role in the community and in the growth of the site and work to help implement some of the things you’ve all really wanted to see in the forum, but that I haven’t had the support or resources to do.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email them to me.
There is an FAQ about all this below. Also, beyond any questions you might have, I'd enjoy hearing any ideas you might have for how we can make DVD Talk community even better going forward.
Thank you.

FAQ’s
Q: How will joining Internet Brands Help DVD Talk?
A: The main benefit will be having more infrastructure and technology resources behind the site. Better servers and hardware will mean better performance for the site and admin tools. And more technology resources will mean faster bug-fixes, quicker turnaround on site changes and more frequent updates in site software, like vBulletin or photo-posting applications.
Q: Will DVD Talk become part of another Internet Brand site?
A: Internet Brands plans to keep DVD Talk a separate, thriving site and to continue expanding its content, community and traffic.
Q: How about VideoGameTalk.com?
A: Yes, Video Game Talk will also become part of Internet Brands.
Q: How about XCritic is that part of this?
A: No, XCritic.com has be spun off as its own separate site completely separately owned and operated. Going forward Internet Brands and DVD Talk will not have any form of adult content, ads, links, or adult forum on it.
Q: Are the forum moderators, administrators and editors going to continue at DVD Talk?
A: Yes. They all plan to continue their current level of involvement on the site and in the community.
Q: What changes can we expect to see on DVD Talk?
A: It's hard to predict far into the future, but for the time being, DVD Talk will remain essentially unchanged. The main near-term addition you’ll probably notice is that Internet Brands will figure out with the DVD Talk staff the most logical places to put links to relevant content on other IB sites. Beyond that, Internet Brands plans to brainstorm with the admins and moderators of DVD Talk about improvements that would make the site more useful.
Q: Will my DVD Talk log-in or password change?
A: No you will still access DVD Talk as you always have.
Q: Why did DVD Talk Join Internet Brands?
Internet Brands’ mission is to empower consumers to make better decisions about buying and maintaining their purchases. DVD Talk’s users offer outstanding opinions, reviews and advice about DVDs, technology from newbies and veterans alike, which should be a very good fit with the rest of the Internet Brands sites.

We've gone corporate. I want you all to calendar a meeting for 10:00 AM tomorrow to dialog regarding this paradigm shift and our approach to achieve synergy and maximize effectiveness.

Geoff cares about this forum more than all of us put together, and I'm confident he would not have done this without careful deliberation as to what is best for the members and future of this forum. So I will take a positive, but cautious, position and wait to see how this unfolds.

As the Internet has become more corporate, it has also become less fun. Hopefully, that won't happen here.
