One of my favorite King short stories, utterly horrifying stuff. Hopefully they do it justice.

Surprising that this movie has never been attempted before now, because it is old school King... straight horror.

Considering Darabont's last two King -> Screen transitions (Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile), I think it's at least in good hands (even if the material is drastically different.)

Can't wait. I'm glad Darabont went with a low budget type of feel for this story. It'll be really interested to see how he handles the ending.

I remember listening to The Mist nearly 20 years ago on this 3-D surround sound audiobook, and it was really creepy!

That trailer looked great and I really like the cast involved here. I'm a little worried about some of the CG, but I'm hoping that it's kept to a minimum.

I vaguely recall first hearing about a possible film adaptation not long after the story first appeared in print. Probably one of those projects that got stuck in "development hell."

I'm sorry but I instantly thought of The Fog.

the beginning of that trailer looked very reminscent of the remake trailer for "The Fog". but it did have a better feel as it got going.

I wore my tape out because I listened to it every day before bed.

I had the audiobook way back in the 80's, too. Always loved this story, and thought it would make a great movie in the right hands. I think Darabont will do well with this one, too, by the looks of the trailer.

I loved this story (the best one in the book) and listened the hell out of the 3-D audio tape as well.

I really hope they keep the original ending but it's probably too ambiguous for Hollywood.

Never read/heard the book, but I immediately thought of Carpenter's Fog. Atleast the fog looks real unlike that Fog remake.

Looks a little hokey, with the CGI bugs.

Let me guess, 3 hours of character development, 5 minutes to kill ALL the monsters, then a half hour to reunite all characters with their loved ones then end with a view of the sun setting?

Sorry to sound like an ass and I do LOVE Stephen King (The only books I read are by King and yes, I can honestly say I wouldn't read anything if he wasn't around) but that's usually how his films turn out. Shawshank? Great flick and no complaints about the length - it was perfect. Green Mile - horrible film, way too long and way too dull.

Of course I'm eager to check this one out but I'm not getting my hopes up.

The original story is an absolute classic, really terrifying. I also listened to that audiobook when I was young.

Shawshank is good but vastly over-rated, and Green Mile is a truly awful movie. Definitely willing to give this the benefit of the doubt, though, especially after seeing the trailer. I think the fact that Marcia Gay Harden signed on gives me more confidence and hope than anything else. Casting her as the religious nutcase was brilliant.

The Green Mile is truly awful? At worst it's a competently made film that may be too long for someone's taste. But awful? Really?

And Rival11, from the trailer it looks like it's sticking very very closely to the story, outside of present day updates. So you couldn't be more wrong. The film will be much shorter than his other King adaptations. It will certainly have a much quicker pace.
