Films You'd Like to See Special Editions Made For

Sorry, I know this is done every once in a while, but we need to keep bringing it up on the boards in case studios are reading them.

1. The Buddy Holly Story
2. Bound for Glory (lots of historical info available for Woody Guthrie, was a Best Picture nom, so it makes sense)
3. Deliverance
4. Quiz Show (another BP nom with tons of historical info available, yet the current disc is bare bones)
5. Without Limits
6. The African Queen (I'd even take bare bones at this point)
7. Cool Hand Luke (I hear it's on the way...)
8. Bonnie & Clyde (ditto)
9. Mississippi Burning
10. The Graduate (I know there is one, but it's not special... at all)

Post the ones you want to see!

Death Becomes Her - a barebones, anamorphic release would be fine, but a special edition, with all the deleted scenes, including the original ending, would be even better!

There is a Special Edition of Twister.

Mainly I wish a lot of foreign SEs would just make the trip to the US. For starters, we could get the French SEs of John Carpenter's movies: Prince of Darkness, They Live and Starman all have audio commentaries we didn't get in the US (with Carpenter and Peter Jason, Carpenter and Rowdy Roddy Piper and Carpenter and Jeff Bridges, respectively), and some of his other movies, like Escape From New York, Assault on Precinct 13 and Vampires all included extensive video bonuses we didn't get.

The Road Warrior will be SE'd in R1 in a few months. It has commentary by George Miller and some other features.

Can't wait for that Road Warrior SE. The American President is another good call. Great film, Great Sorkin script. Sadly, it's a snapper title...

Ditto that. I have fond memories of seeing this one in the theater in high school with friends. It was cool. There should be enough material around to get two discs out of it.

I think Jackson said this year would be the year he goes back and revisits much of his splatter catalog on DVD, but we'll see. I have faith that he will do it, but I don't know that he will actually get around to it in 2007 like he said.

I have some hope (very minor, but some hope) that at least 21 Grams but also hopefully Lebowski will make the jump to Criterion. Both got pretty shitty reissues for relatively no reason (at least Inarritu had Babel coming out), which may be a Dazed and Confused-style attempt to squeeze a few more bucks out of them before licensing them to Criterion. Universal has licensed quite a few flicks to them and it would be nice for both movies to really get better treatment.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for Crossing since it has some features and the Coens aren't big DVD guys. There is maybe a chance for Life Less Ordinary, if, as Danny Boyle is CLAIMING, Ewan McGregor has agreed to return for Porno and they've patched up their fight, then Fox might re-issue that one.

Whenever Rodriguez gets around to the slew of DVDs he's promised (the one with David Arquette that got pulled, Spy Kids SEs, etc.) I bet we'll get an SE of The Faculty. Next year is also the 10th Anniversary, so who knows. And I want to see an Insider SE. I still cannot believe that for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON the existing DVD has a featurette named "Audio Commentary By Al Pacino and Russell Crowe", especially since the featurette's title doesn't even appear on the disc itself.
