I can't remember when 2 movies that were filmed together came out within weeks of each other. Has there been such releases?

Most say this is one complete movie. Do you think we'll get some LE perhaps of both movies together in one super-duper set? and if so, will that come out right away or will it have the eventual double dip syndrome?

i think you will get two seperate two disc (or possibly three disc) sets. Its a warner title, and a clint eastwood movie. I think they will follow the route they have with Million Dollar Baby and Mystic River with 2 disc, plus a deluxe edition that has the soundtrack.

I hope they might have a nice boxset with both movies (along with individual releases). I'd be all over that.

Uh, Flags was a DreamWorks/Paramout release.

Maybe Best Buy will do an exclusive case, like they did for Kill Bill.

Warner does own the international rights to the film as it was a co-production. Conversely, Dreamworks/Paramount get the international rights to Iwo Jima while Warner gets domestic.

So, since DreamWorks/Paramount have domestic rights on Flags and Warner on Iwo Jima, I guess that would mean chances of a two-movie box set is unlikely?

Cameron, is there any confirmation on the video distribution deal? Because if it is true, then I'm a happy dude. The country I'm living in is such a bootleg haven that Warner is the only company that gives a damn about releasing their titles decently.

My prediction: no box set from the studio(s), but certain retailers may choose to bundle these together as an "exclusive."

I saw Flags back in October. It's a very good film, but nowhere near the standard or Mystic River or, just to predict the future, Letters from Iwo Jima.

Flags is coming from Paramount, which wraps up the home video question I had.

DreamWorks is owned by Paramount, so Paramount will be distributing both pictures on DVD.

Warner Brothers and DreamWorks co-produced Letters from Iwo Jima, but I'm thinking WB will release it on dvd.

The arrangement the two studios came to was that Paramount has US distribution rights for Flags while Warner has US distribution rights for Iwo Jima. They will not be released together.

But when I saw Letters this weekend, the DreamWorks logo came first before the WB logo.

Or is this gonna be like The Aviator all over again?

From what I hear "Flags" is really bad, but "Iwo Jima" is great, and you don't have to have seen one to enjoy the other.

Actually, "Flags" is average, at best. And "Letters" is just above average.

In the review at DVDBeaver it says that there is a trailer for Letters From Iwo Jima on the Flags Of Our Fathers DVD. It would seem strange that they're advertising a film that a different studio would be putting out on DVD.

I just watched Flags of Our Fathers last night, and was extremely impressed considering how audiences/critics responded. I would definitely pick it up if it wasn't barebones, but I can wait until the Flags/Letters double-disc package is released sometime in the future (as we all know it will be). Clint Eastwood is quickly moving up my list of best directors.

FWIW, for the 2 disc version of Flags released today, Target has this with an exclusive 3rd disc, a documentary on wartime photographers.
