Is the 5-disc set in amaray cases or a digipack?

So I guess the general release is too in amaray casing. In which case, I will have to order it soon because I'm a big genre fan. Thanks tofferman and if anyone else want to confirm its packaging, please do.

I got mine at Fry's Electronics for 39.99 on opening day. They only had 2. My local best buy had several at 49.99. None at Wal-mart or target. Here's a link to amazon with a pic.

http://www.amazon.com/Letters-Flags-...0005175&sr=1-2

It's flags and letters both 2-disc plus heroes of iwo jima. It's the 3 movies in one box, but within the box you get the three keepcases exactly the same as buying it separately plus the A&E bonus disc and for 39.99 a pretty good deal too but not too special. Just one thing however - none of mine came with inserts, did anyone buy flags or letters 2-disc individually and have inserts in them?

By the way, I'm new and this is my first post so hello to everyone.

Oh and the official name of the box set is:

The Battle for Iwo Jima 5-Disc Commemorative Collector's Edition

even though none of the stores i've seen list it as such.

Welcome to the forum!

I heard that Flags of Our Fathers 2-disc had no insert. Might open it this weekend to verify.

Could you tell me more about the 5th "bonus" disc? Is it available elsewhere (does it have a UPC)?

And are are three titles separately sealed and UPC'd inside the slipcase? If so, I might buy it and re-gift my duplicates.

Just ordered it from BN.com, had gotten a 10% off coupon in an email from them, and it was $35 with free expedited shipping. So, I got it for $33.05 with free 3 day shipping.

I saw the bonus disc "Heroes of Iwo Jima" as a separate disc for sale at Best Buy ($14.99). It was in their documentary section and is an A&E release from 2001 with the UPC code of 733961703368.

Great, now I don't have to buy it to keep up with my obsession.

In mine Flags of Our Fathers was separately sealed, but has a white sticker on the case (under the wrapper) covering the UPC. The other two cases weren't sealed at all.

Exactly how mine came. I think the white sticker has something to do with Target's exclusive with the third disc inside.

Yep, it went OOP the other day. You can still buy it at Buy.com for $27.36 using the Google Checkout deal though, so if any of you guys want to buy this set, you better do it soon.

EDIT:

Ok, well, nevermind about the Buy.com deal afterall. After I posted the above I went to check the site to make sure, and it's OOS there now as well. It was in stock last night though, I promise.

Iwo Jima 3-disc w/soundtrack

I just picked up an exclusive FYE "Letters From Iwo Jima" 3-disc set - the exact style of past Eastwood/WB releases. It has a slipcover over a digipack holding 2 dvds and the soundtrack. Hadn't seen anyone on the boards mention this.

I was curious about this "Flags of our Fathers" 3-disc Target exclusive I've read being kicked aroung these forums, containing a bonus disk with a WWII documentary. Is the packaging any different from the 2-disc amaray with slipcover? Digipack perhaps? Any lucky owners have picks they could share?

Thanks,
J.J.

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that on Thursday. I was looking for Truffaut's Day for Night and when I went into FYE, it was the first thing I saw.

I was able to get the 5-disc DVD set, but I also found on Amazon that they released a special 2-CD edition containing soundtracks to both movies with bonus material on both discs. The packaing is a very nice digipack. Just thought I'd mention it for anyone wanting the soundtracks to both movies, like I did.
