Deja Vu

Looking at it, I think I'm going to give this upcoming Denzel Washington movie a theatre viewing. It has two things going for it in my book....

1) As far as I'm concerned, Denzel's resume regarding action movies is as solid as they come. Even movies like Ricochet and Fallen gave me what I was looking for, a chance to get caught up in an engaging action plot.

2) It's got the sci-fi twist in the plot, it's Tony Scott directed and it has a Nov. release date...the math to me adds up to what is likely to be a very enjoyable theatre viewing.

I definitely wanna see this. The trailer looks great, although I keep getting the strange feeling that I've seen this movie before.

Tony Scott directing a PG-13 movie = no sale

that being said, I'll check it out on DVD

Yeah I only go to the movies maybe once a month, and I think this is going to be my pick for November (unless I happen to see Borat). Always open to checking new Denzel or Tony Scott. Should be pretty good.

Almost all my good will towards Tony Scott was disappated with last year's Domino, but I'm hoping this one doesn't get as out of control. Denzel's presence, and what is a pretty clever plot device is enough to get me in the theater.

Isn't there a new tv show with Taye Diggs that deals with the same Deja Vu thing? Kinda like The Sopranos and Analyze This coming out around the same time.

Yeah, we were worried when we saw the ads for this, but it looks like this movie tries to explain the science behind being able to repeat events, but Day Break is closer to Groundhog Day; it's never explained why or how.

I had high hopes for this one, it has denzel washington, Tony Scott directing it, and Jerry Bruckheimer as the producer, BUT ITS FUCKING PG-13. This had all of the right ingrediants for a good R-rated action flick that Bruckheimer use to produce in the 80s/90s such as The Rock, Enemy of the State, Bad Boys, and Con Air. But no Disney had to be fucking pussies about releasing it as a PG-13 just for the KIDDIES. No thanks but I will pass.

So you like everything about this film, but are skipping it because of it's rating? That seems more childish to me than the rating itself.

I'll be skipping it because of Tony Scott's seizure inducing camera work. If I wanted to feel like I was in an earthquake, I'd move to a fault-line.

I'll see this for Denzel and can forgive Scott for Domino. The PG-13 thing is certainly a damperer though.

The PG-13 rating doesn't make any difference to me. I don't think that necessarily takes the peril out of the thriller, and everything I've heard about the plot has been intriguing. Aintitcool.com sent one of their writers to interview Scott and Bruckheimer and get a peak at the movie, and the set up for this movie has me pretty psyched. Also, it assuages some of the concerns about Scott you guys were expressing.

Funny how you can tell this was Tony Scott seconds into the trailer.

No I am just tired of everything coming from Hollywood has to be PG-13 now, and it has pretty much been that way since 2000. Hollywood completely ignores that adults like to go to the movies too, and everything gets dumbed down to a PG-13 movie, just to make the most money. Thats why releasing adult action movies like Miami Vice seemed so refreshing. I guarantee you that if this movie was made any year in the 90s it could have been R.

I agree that this film is the traditional R-rated action movie territory that Tony Scott and Bruckheimer would've done in the 90's. (In fact, this seems like a huge retread of Enemy of the State... I'm not complaining).

However, I don't see that cutting to PG-13 is a trend. Of the Top 10 movies out right now, four of them are very hard Rs: Borat, Departed, Flags of Our Fathers, and Saw III. R movies have never been box office poison but they've never been the majority.

I just miss R-rated action flicks that use to come from Bruckheimer. If we can see a revival of gross out comedies, and ultra-graphic hard R horror flicks, we should get to see R-rated action flicks make a comeback.

btw I know there are quite a few R rated flicks out right now. I still want to see the Departed, Borat, and Saw III.

movie sounds like a rip-off of the tv show 7 days which was a rip off of Groundhog day. domino was horrible but i like a lot of tony scott's films. he seems to make one really bad film and then come back with a good one. So i have high hopes. Man on fire and crimson tide with denzel were good. Not much in terms of action films lately at all. now casino royale and this, hopefully at least one of them will be good.

I agree, he says: "A car chase unlike any other car chase I have ever seen." I saw Ronin in the theatre and nothing, and I mean nothing, beats a great car chase in the theatre. I am very psyched about this. George is gettin psyched!!!
