2001 A Space Odyssey Coll Ed. DVD CompUSA $5.88

For in-store pick-up only but if you have a CompUSA nearby and don't own one of the best movies ever this is for you

2001

Have not proven this deal out as I don't live near CC and already own it.

Your text refers to Circuit City, yet the deal seems to be at CompUSA?

Great deal, either way. It just makes a big difference since it's only available as an in-store pickup.

FYI: 2001 is due to be re-released so if there is anyone that wants this film but wants to save themselves a double dip be advised.

I don't but I'm sure someone else can help. I'm thinking it is sooner rather than later. Say by next Feb. is my guess.

I assume you're talking about this thread, but that's just conjecture from IMDB boards (they make these boards look like a panel of industry insiders). I already have the bad version of 2001, and I might just pick this one up just because it's so cheap. I am tired of paying $15 for Kubrick discs that are just as good as the $8 ones. Grr. < /rant>

I believe it was stated on The Digital Bits that Warner was quietly working on a new 2 disc 2001. Atleast that is where I recall reading about it (in addition to the threads that have popped up here).

Thanks for the lead, I couldn't find anything here and blow at finding info on other websites. I'm retarded for DVDTalk.

Re-released again? How many times is this going to keep being released?

Nothing wrong with the current 2001 disc. Just watched it last night and was blown away by how good it looks on a big screen. Not to mention that its the greatest movie of all time.

By the way, the implies that you are talking about the Collector's Set and not this item from the "Kubrick Collection."

BTW, I wouldn't hold my breath on a new edition.

Don't believe everything you read. I've seen them list DVDs as "Out-Of-Stock" on the website and then find them at the store.

Of course, YMMV. Maybe Virginia and Maryland stores are better than St. Louis stores at keeping track of what's in stock....

I suppose because people only bought the 2001 set. The second disc is an audio CD - the soundtrack.

I am soooooo glad I traded in my 2001 snapper! Be gone, vile packaging. Thou hast been fit for diapers, and no more.
