I've always liked this 80's flick, Tom Atkins rocks of course. It was broadcast on Cinemax tonight and I made sure to watch it to see which studio owned the title. There it was, the Tri-Star logo, which means it's a Columbia owned movie. Now I know who to send my letters to.

Out of curiosity, did Cinemax air the longer version of the film?

I desperately want Night of the Creeps on DVD. With both endings: the dog zombie and the other one with the cop wandering into the graveyard (which I've NEVER SEEN). I'm not sure which one is the "official" ending, but both must be included.

Oooh... I can't wait to hear this announced. Anamorphic, 5.1 sound, special features... *shudder*

I've been on a kick here lately, posting pics of laserdiscs of these titles, but a lot of people only think of laser as the "Star Wars" format when there are actually quite a few obscure titles available on laser. I wouldn't try to convince someone to add LD to their home video stable this late in the game, but I'm happy to have it in mine.

NIGHT OF THE CREEPS (1986): Space-alien slug monsters the size of Gene Simmons' tongue squirm around in dead folk's brainpans until they lurch to life looking for din-din. The flick starts with an interstellar skirmish, a terrestrial axe murder and picks up decades later when two geekazoids anxious to impress a babe must amscray with a medical-school cadaver as a fraternity prank. Only that's how the cranium critters get loose and before long CineSchlocker fave Tom Atkins 'n' pals are defending a sorority house under seige by horn'd up zombies (including a reanimated serial killer). It's all inspired gravy through the final reel when oodles of ghouls are gloriously dispatched with a shotgun, flamethrower AND the adept use of a lawnmower.

I watched it yesturday as well. Have'nt seen it in a few years. Great film..& i noticed scenes were cut,that were included in the tv-version!

There was more to the sorrority sequence at the begining. That was the major difference i noticed missing as it just cut right to the Lovers Lane portion,which i remember having alittle bit more dialogue before.

Of course the original ending was gone as well. I saw that ending on tv when i was a kid & first saw the film. Thought it was great..& when i finally saw the film unedited. I saw shocked to see the ending was changed!


So my dream dvd would include both the theatrical version..& the restored version with original ending & the other brief sequences added for tv.

Thoug if it's in Columbia's hands. Won't that mean a bare bones,P&S,no trailer or anything release?

I hope not. The least they can do is restored the original ending & include the theatrical ending as a option.

I'll throw my $.02 in, just in case someone at Columbia is watching. This is a great horror-comedy...I'd dare say THE best horror-comedy with a disabled character and a former Rusty from the Vacation series.

I saw the theatrical/video version so many times (that ended with the slug thing about to go from the zombie dog into the lead girl), I was surprised when I finally saw an extended ending on tv. In it, the hero pushes the girl out of the way at the last minute. Is this the same ending as the cop/graveyard ending? I have to say I was a bit disappointed with that scene, as I loved the ballsy abrupt video ending.

Well i have'nt seen the original ending in years. Yet i remember it faded away from the buring sorority house..to the cop walking down the street zombiefied..then he falls over,head splits open..& the slugs squirm out..& under a fence..the camera then pans back/up & you see it is a graveyard. Then the spaceship roams by overhead with the light scanning the area..& then leaves.

Some say the aliens collected the slugs..but i don't remember that. Either way i thought the ending was pretty cool in a subtle creepy kind of way.

So when i finally saw the theatrical version. The new ending took me by surprise..that ihad to rewind & see if i saw what i thought i did? Then i was alittle pissed it was changed since i thought the original ending was awsome.

Yet now seeing the theatrical ending for the 2nd time. It was ok in a abrupt-jump scare downer of a ending. Yet i still liked the original better.


So hopefully the dvd if released would include both endings.

Whenever it airs on network tv. They always use the tv-version as far as i know. So check it out next time it airs on the Sci-Fi Channel. I know i will next time,may record it just in case as well.

Yeah, with Columbia owning this, I'm very worried that an eventual DVD release would be full frame only and barebones.
