Is the new Dances with Wolves worth the upgrade from the DTS version?

There are plenty of reviews of picture and sound quality around, including on this site, if you run a search. It's not a simple comparison of transfer quality, though. The two releases have very different versions of the movie. The new MGM release contains only the extended director's cut, so if you don't like that version of the movie, then no it isn't worth the upgrade.

I thought to see the extra 39 min or so that it was worth upgrading. DTS is a good thing to keep ahold of, but all the extras and the commentaries make it worth the upgrade alone

Sorry, but this isn't an "upgrade". A different version of the film, yes, but dropping the full rate DTS track is not an upgrade. If you love the film, pick it up, but by all means do not dump your DTS version...
I picked this up for my GF but have yet to have the time for a A/B comparison vs the Image DTS discs. From what I've read so far, the PQ is about the same...
Extras are just that. Extra.
