Bill Cosby's early standup absolutely rules.

Ditto on the early Cosby stuff. Of course, that was how I felt 10-15 years ago -- wonder if I'd enjoy it as much now.

I enjoy the Tom Mabe series "Revenge on the Telemarketers".

I picked up a Roy T. Mercer CD at a discard sale at a local distributer ($3). His brand of comedy is interesting, but after hearing the first two or three it got old. He is a DJ in Tulsa Oklahoma (I'm not sure what his real name is), and he will call people pretending to be this old onery guy, demanding payment for something. When he is told that he can't be paid he threatens to go down there and "whup some ass". On every call. The point is to try to get the person extremely worked up, then tell them that it is a prank call from the radio station. Pick up the Mabe CD(s) instead.

David Cross' new disc "Shut Up, You ****ing Baby!" could be the best stand up album of the decade (not that it has a whole hell of a lot of competition - not hard to be funnier than Adam Sandler and Jimmy Fallon).

How could you mention David Cross without the late Bill Hicks?

Bill Hicks - Relentless, Arizona Bay, Rant In E Minor and Dangerous

Robert Schimmel - Unprotected

Joe Rogan

David Cross - Shut Up You F'n Baby

Lewis Black, early Cosby, some Chris Rock, Dennis Leary No Cure for Cancer, early George Carlin, or you could do what I do and just burn a copy of all the SNL celebrity jeopardy's...THAT's some funny stuff

And now, the sound of John Devner being strangled . . .

"You came on my pillow . . . . ACKrrrrrggghhhhh!!!"

My pick - anything Monty Python every recorded. Ever.

Anything from Rodney Carrington. "Hangin' with Rodney", "Morning Wood", "Live! C'mon Laugh you bastards".

Great great stuff. The albums look like they would be Jeff Foxworthy redneck type of humor, but for the most part they arn't, he just happens to be from the south.

In my car, I have all Adam Sandler and Jerky Boys stuff. Never gets old. How can you say that AS gets old?

I still almost pass out from laughter with the "*ock and balls" routine.

I still get a good laugh out of "No Cure For Cancer".

Both of the Chris Rock CDs are good too.

I like a lot of old comedy, so take this for what it's worth.

I was looking for a different, not so gigantic National Lampoon CD, but this one will cover you, even though it's missing some of my favorites (like Gymnasty and Deteriorata): "Buy This Box or We'll Shoot This Dog: The Best of the National Lampoon Radio Hour" If you like SNL at all, a lot of the early cast is on here pre-SNL, and far less censored.

Standup Comic - Woody Allen: He was a pretty funny guy as a standup comic.

Bob Newhart is a pretty funny standup comic too. Any of his old CDs are worth listening to.

I am the same way so here is my list in no particular order....

Emo Phillips
Lewis Black
Stephen Lynch....adult musical comedy not really standup
Dane Cook
George Wallace
Mitch Hedburg
Steven Wright
Jon Pinette

I am sure there are others but those are the ones that come to mind.

I second the Bill Hicks cd's. I also endorse Robin Harris - Be-Be's Kids. It is so f'ing hillarious.

I tried Bill Hicks: A rant in E-minor and I didn't think it was funny at all.
