I'm happy we are finally getting an Alamo in San Francisco
I no longer have to move to Texas and stay happily in a blue-state where I'm safe.

Austin is not representative of the rest of the state, I concur. Austin is like San Francisco-lite.

Damn, I have to make a trip down to Austin soon. Would be fun to go to the gallery opening. There are a couple local boutique theaters in Minneapolis that put on Alamo-type screenings every now and then. Would be great to get some artists to promote those -- maybe I should hit up Burlesque.

I thought that was pretty over the top myself. I think SterlingBen's piece looks good, though it's not a framing choice you could put on any piece. Nothing wrong with customizing the frame to the piece at all. Well done.

I am always secretly happy when I don't really like a mondo print. Now if they could just never make anything awesome again, maybe between that and the DVD shelved I may have enough wall space.

Same, here. Shocked I won't be trying for a BTTF poster, one of my favorite films, but those wouldn't make the wall.

Does anybody have a suggestion for storing the posters safely that I don't yet have room to hang? My collection is growing and I can't hang them all. I've read that the best way is to get an acid free box and lay them flat with acid free paper in between each print...but for the life of me I can't find any acid free boxes large enough...The largest boxes I can find would be fine for my 18x24 but any posters larger than that would be out of luck.
Any help would be amazing.

I really have to limit myself on 24x36 or larger because I just don't have the storage space for them and they have to stay rolled or get framed up.

^ Yup, I got all my 24x36 sleeves, backings and boxes from BagsUnlimited. I use the Itoya portfolio for my 18x24 prints.

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters
Hey guys, sorta pimping this out because not only is the print very nice, but it comes from a fellow collector.
http://tacobelvedere.bigcartel.com/

His next project is equally as good:
http://tacobelvedere.bigcartel.com/

An Expressobeans.com forum member(MovieManJeff1012) was trying to figure out the best way to hang Dan McCarthy's "Hoth" and JC Richard's "Fortress of Solitude" next to each other. His wall was a bit too big and it felt like something was missing, so Mark had an idea for a print to fill the gap. Mark spent about an hour doing a quick mock up and people seemed really excited about the concept. So he decided to start a process thread (http://forum.expressobeans.com/viewt...p?f=32&t=81852) and move forward with an actual print.
After a couple of days, Mark generated all the elements and arranged them into a final comp. He took up the suggestion to do a timed release for his first ever print. He had no way to gauge an edition size, but to maintain some level of collect-ability, he decided to make a limited, glow in the dark variant as well.
The glow in the dark image will be added to the regular image to create the variant edition, I don't want people thinking that is the only image that will be on the paper.
Mark had some trouble finding a printer local to him, but Jay Shaw stepped up and pointed him towards Martin Hammond over P&L Printing.
The print will go on sale Sunday, March 4th, sometime between 7-9am and remain on sale for 31 hours after the drop. But the variant is not time released, it will be limited to only 31 copies in the edition.
The regular is 3-colors, 12x36, $40, $13 shipping within the US and $23 outside of the US

Grab it quick
Gallery 1988 is currently selling this stunning American Horror Story poster by Daniel Danger. It’s a 12.25″ x 24″ screenprint, has an edition of 300, and costs $35. There are some other cool TV posters for PaleyFest there as well.

Snagged one of these on the onset and another in the last 3 minutes to get free shipping and a sketch. I guess I'll hang onto the dupe and trade/gift it later.
Big fan of IT, but this one doesn't quite do it for me, scene is great, kids and clown... meh. The spider is awesome though.
Also almost had to bite my own hand to not buy that American Horror Story print. Loved the show but only liked the print, a new rule I have is to only buy things I love as I have way way too much.
Another aside on the thing. I have a Hoth print:

Think I should get the Thing printed the same way and have them next to each other or would this frame be too much for this print?
