If I can take my DivX encoded .avi files, copy them to an external USB harddrive and play them as easily and directly as I can play .wmv files, I will be completely and totally astonished.

Apparently there is a "Free Stuff" button on the Marketplace now.

Also, apparently the Friends of Friends list can be manipulated to act as clan support.

If this does in fact provide support like that I can disconnect my upconverting divx-playing dvd player, I may have to buy a bigger usb drive though, as my player had a memory card slot I use frequently.

Somebody creates a silver gamertag, "DVDTalk Clan" and adds all the DVDTalk guys to it. Then everyone here adds "DVDTalk Clan" to their friends list and through the Friends of Friends option, you'll have full access to that friends list. Not perfect, but workable, yes?

Alright, I've made a Silver account: DVD Talk Gamers

Add this as a friend and when FoF support comes out, we'll all be in there.

I'm sending out a bunch of requests... The limit is still 100, right? I shouldn't need to be discriminatory.

It's still a 100 limit (for now).

We could do DVDTalk Shooter Guild and DVDTalk Arcade Guild or something.

I was about to add you as a friend but I just got the request. I gave you a preferred gamer review, I recommend everyone do the same!

I think we should be OK with the 100-limit. I just went and added everyone who posted in the past two months in the Xbox thread and it was 41 people. Most people posted two or three times. Then somepeople (I won't name any pixynames) post 4x per page.

Improved robustness when ejecting discs from external HD-DVD drive

I wonder what happened to the IPTV support that was announced as such a big deal earlier? Seems conspicuous in its disappearance...

You joke, but this would have been a full point upgrade on the PS3 and worthy of it's own FW update.

Looks like this is only half true. According to 'e' on Major Nelson's latest podcast, the update will NOT scrub your profile of trial games. The way it works is that from the update on, trial games will not show up in your profile. Anything before the update will not be touched.

I have not watched it.. but apparently the video preview of the update on the Gamerscore "Blog" clearly showed the deletion process. I guess we'll know for sure on Tuesday. I have no idea why management of your "Played Games" list has been so sloppy. I was warned up front and have an "offline" profile for XBLA demos but I've also got Rumble Roses, Dead or Alive 4 and Viva Piņata in my main list from other people playing on my Xbox.. it'd be nice to zap those as they're not games I've actually played. Though, it's honestly not a big deal, but it'd be nice and should be a simple implement, yes?

Yep. With auto sign in, it screws up your list when a buddy comes over and pops a game in. I have COD3, Monster Madness and a couple others I'd love to dump.
