While Microsoft's GDC press conference has just commenced, someone on NeoGAF has got an Italian PR announcing Gears of War 2 for November.
Not confirmed yet, but maybe by the end of this press conference they'll show something. November seems awfully fast.

7 Free Limited time demos are up on the Market Place from XNA Studios. To download the demos you have to download the XNA Creators Club add on, then go to your games library and scroll over to XNA on the top and press the "Y" button to access the demos. I have no idea why they made it so complicated.

The Gears 2 announcement also makes the 360's 2008 outlook a lot brighter, as I think between the 3 consoles the 360 probably had the weakest lineup of exclusive or must have games. Considering things like MGS4, Gran Turismo on PS3 or Smash Bros, Mario Kart on the Wii, the 360 really only had what... Ninja Gaiden 2?

Too Human i think will turn out to be good.
Alan Wake will surprise me if it isn't delayed again, but i'm really looking forward to it.
Halo Wars i predict will suck ass on the console. I think if they have a PC version then i will pick up that. The last several RTS on a console with supposedly perfect controller controls betrayed me. They were not perfect, they in fact were horrible.

Yeah, I expected Alan Wake wouldn't be a 2008 release. Haven't heard much about the 3rd Banjo-Kazooie game either.
Halo Wars will probably sell on the name alone, and while I trust Ensemble, I'm not sure how good an RTS will be on a console either.
Too Human is a wild card; all that negative press the last 2 years might have turned people away, but it certainly looks cool to me.
I don't think any of those games are guaranteed huge hits though; certainly less then the Wii/PS3 offerings, but maybe that's just me.

First Xbox 360 Community Games to hit Live "immediately"
Posted Feb 20th 2008 5:04PM by Nilay Patel
It wasn't all Zune gaming at Microsoft's GDC keynote this morning -- a lot of time was spent discussing Community Games, the new official name for XNA-based games. Amateur devs will get "creator identities" along with their gamertags, and Live members can rate, grade, and discuss your efforts. Of course, as we've heard, games can move from the 360 to PCs to second-gen Zunes, which is definitely pretty cool, but it'll be interesting to see what that means for devs who want to try and take advantage of the 360's horsepower -- will they be restrict their code to a specific platform? While we wait for those answers, it looks like we'll be able to get a taste of what Community Games have to offer right away -- Microsoft announced that the first seven XNA-based games are available immediately, with an open beta to begin in spring and full-on launch by the end of the year. List of games after the jump -- but what are you doing reading this when you could be playing?
Update: We just tried downloading RocketBall and the process is totally different than you'd expect. First you have to download the XNA Launcher, which is under New Arrivals in the Marketplace blade -- but you don't need a membership, so skip that, and the XNA ad that displays points you to the wrong thing, so ignore that as well. Then head over to the Games blade and select Games Library, but don't open the Launcher, cause it'll just kick you out. Instead, press Y to view the list of games and download one. So far the "YouTube of games" seems a bit convoluted -- hopefully the next Dashboard update makes this all a bit simpler.
"JellyCar." Created by Walaber from the United States, this game is about driving a squishy car through squishy worlds, trying to reach the exit.
"Little Gamers." This is a 2-D high definition action side-scroller based on the famous Web comic "Little Gamers" created by Loic Dansart, a 24-year-old software developer from Belgium.
"The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai." An intense 2-D action platform game created by James Silva from the United States, "The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai" has a unique, highly stylized look and fast and fluid action.
"TriLinea." This puzzle game created by Edison S. Prata Jr., Renato Pelizzari da Silva and Davi da Silva Prata from Brazil mixes fast-paced action with strategy.
"RocketBall." Created by Tyler Wanlass, Patrick Murty and Todd Barrons of the United States, this neighborhood game of dodgeball explodes onto the street with fast-paced multiplayer action.
"ProximityHD." This game, created by Brian Cable from the United States, takes the essence of strategy games -- battles for control of territory and armies -- and distills it down to a simple, easy-to-understand set of rules for casual players.
"Culture." Created by independent game development company Hidden Path Entertainment from the United States, "Culture" contains challenging games and puzzles based on beautiful flowers.

So far Dishwasher is my favorite.
Culture is a pretty kind of addictive puzzle game.
Jelly Car would be cool if it had more than one level. It has potential.
Rocket Ball and Little Gamers are really lame.
ProximityHD has some potential as a strategy game.
I have yet to try TriLinea.
Also, FYI there are no achievements in these games that you can earn - they are classified as demos.

Oh damn, I didn't realize they're up. I'll play them in a few.
I am really looking forward to Too Human. The cinematic from E3(?) was so incredible. I'm glad they pushed it back to work on it some more.

Hopefully with this change they dumped about half of their collecting quests.
I hate the whole announce a game years and years before they're ready thing though. Especially when there's no steady flow of new info.

So far I've only tried Jellycar and Dishwasher. Jellycar was ok, and Dishwasher was actually pretty good. But I wouldn't pay more than $2-$3 for either one.
How much are these XNA games expected to cost? I saw something that required a $99 a year subscription. Was that just for game designers?

The demos are only limited time. I thought that ment limited time to DL, but apparently it's limited time to play (17 days).
I was REALLY impressed with Dishwasher. It feels like a real game -- a lot like Alien Hominid, but more playable. FWIW, that's the only demo that's described as "an upcoming XBLA game", the rest are just XNA demos.

edit: If i could get Dishwasher for 400 points (5$) i would buy it immediately. I enjoyed the demo.
