I had the chance to watch this when it was available for about five minutes on Youtube and found it decent enough. It certainly never reaches the depths of some of the lesser Timm produced works (Mystery of Batwoman, Subzero), but it never grabbed me the way some of the best DCAU stories (watching JL episode The Great Brain Robbery the night before probably didn't help).
Still, it's an accurate (if streamlined) adaptation of the comic, and if you're a big fan of that story, you'll probably enjoy it. Ultimately though, it struck me as just a bit too rushed and without the quieter, powerful moments that mark the best of the DCAU.

No, WB animation is doing much worse than that. They're trying to cram a long story into 70 minutes! An hour and a half would have actually been a godsend in comparison.
Any reason for that descision?I don't know. I'm guessing someone in DC animation still thinks ADD 6 year olds are the only market for their animated features so they make them as long as your average Disney feature.
Before long you'll have a couple of musical numbers featuring Batman and a talking animal that cracks dorky pop culture jokes.
Now MARVEL does a decent job as far as length of their features. Problem is that their stories (judging from the Iron Man and Dr. Strange reeases) aern't that great.

The reason for the length is budget. Animated projects are often strictly allocated their time. 15 more minutes of animation can add a lot of cost.
I wish it was longer.

Is there any reason for me to buy this in Blu-Ray? Any reviews? I kind of doubt from the cost of making these that high-def will matter like it did with something like The Simpsons Movie.

I bought it in SD on account of the Blu-Ray not having any of the exclusive stuff. In Best Buy's case, no exclusive Hal Jordan figure.
Video quality is pretty good considering I'm watching it on my upconverting Toshiba HD-A20.
I've yet to watch any of the documentary features but lookingover the Blu-Ray box at the store, it's identical to the 2 disc SD.

This was great! A great Blu-ray release. 10 times better than Superman/Doomsday, and makes me want to read the story again. It did a much better job than Doomsday, of hitting all the major points. The ending montage was very well done.
More than ever I want David Boreanaz as Hal in a live action movie.
Now tearing through the special features. History of JLA is 40 mins long, and even features Stan Lee, and the Detroit Era.

Wow!
The documentaries were top notch, especially the history of the JLA one. But the real treat of the set has to be the audio commentary with Darwyn Cook. It actually made a lot of the changes made more palatable and understandable.

This hurts. I haven't watch it yet, and I probably won't be in a rush to do so either.
Are there any plans to have another installment of the DCAU anytime soon with some of the talant that has been working that?
Perhaps another BTAS movie? Hopefully Dark Knight will be very good this summer, otherwise I'm going to need a new vehicle for Conroy to gives us anything good for Batman in the next 5 years.

I watched this last night, i was a little dissapointed. It looked good, but the characters were very superficial, no real depth to it at all like the series had.
Also I hated Jeremy Sisto as Batman.

I know they were great, and JLU might be my favorite animated series of all time, but things are going to change. Conroy's been Batman since what... 1992?

I'm not big on anime or magna so they're all new to me. This series of short cartoons will supposedly time into the Batman Begins/Dark Knight movie universe.
Th New Frontier DVD has an extended preview of the upcoming Batman DVD.

I really enjoyed Justice League: The New Frontier. I bought the 2-Disc with Green Lantern figurine yesterday. I watched the movie and rewatched with one commentary and watched the extras. I am intrigued by Batman: Gotham Knight having watched that extra.

Just watched the movie and the documentary on the JLA, pretty good stuff. It was definitly a departure from the DCAU stuff I'm exposed to, but it was pretty good. I agree it could have been longer, but understand the reason for the constraint. I had a brainfart and forgot there was a two disc =(
Also, for anyone who caught the documentary, anyone know what the song is that plays at the start of it? I know its a classical piece I've heard before, just don't know the name of it.

This movie is fair, not as good as any episode of the series....So what the heck is The Center? The alien spaceship? The govt? I liked the Martian Manhunter storyline more than the Green Lantern storyline. Good animation, good soundtrack, but fair story, especially the sucky villains. Why do they always have these stupid aliens as villains? They did the same in the Avengers movies. I understand that it's an easy thing to "kill", but i'm tired of superhero movies using aliens/animals/bugs as target practice.
The movie should have used Darkseid and his minions...
Jeremy Sisto was interesting as Batman.
